I recently switched to Ferrous Sounds and I think this is a key to getting more comfortable with the Explorer. I am still a very newbie, but when I switched to ferrous sounds and Iron Mask -16 and heard all those low iron tones I kinda lost it for a minute, until I got a good high coin tone in the midst of all that and I sort of thought, "okay, now I'm beginning to understand."
This might be right or wrong, but I let the site itself dictate my search coil sweep speed. If I am sweeping the coil and not getting any signals, or just an occasional low tone, then I don't worry much about the coil speed. But if I get into a lot of iron tones, then I slow down, concentrate on a few good signals and try to ascertain just what kind of site I'm on. If I pull a few targets out that suggest that it's something I'm not interested in , then I move on.
Is this right, or am I screwing up?
I mostly relic hunt, and don't really apply this to parks or public places which have been well searched, but if I searched a home site then I would slow WAAAAY DOWN.
