Ferrous + Conductivity and Bottlecaps?

First of all let me say, I use an X-Terra 70, so the only numerical reading I get is conductivity. My mind has been recently wandering to what I may be missing, having only one indicator of target composition. I just got back from a hunt at a local park where I dug a ton of bottlecaps that gave me readings from 34-46 on the conductivity scale, which could be anything from a copper penny to a silver dollar for me. Sometimes I can tell that it is a bottlecap because the signal is "scratchy" as it jumps from say 42-44 or 44-46 but I have dug good targets that sound "scratchy" too in that number range so I feel that I can't use that as an absolute.
My question for you "Dual Reading" people is " Does having both a conductivity, as well as a ferrous reading, help you to identify a bottlecap from a coin?"
Thanks in advance.

absolutely! I upgraded from an x-70 and the etrac gives you so much info it is amazing. Rusty bottles and coins are no where close on the etrac.

I recently sold my X-70 and upgraded to a E-Trac. Like you one of the problems I experienced with the X-70 was false readings on the bottle caps. I owned my X-70 four years and dug dozens of bottle caps during that time. I have had my E-Trac for a little over a month and used it in areas I knew was full of bottle caps, and all I ever got out of them was a null to my threshold and never once had to dig a bottle cap. This is one great machine on iron.

Another great advantage to the E-Trac over the X-70 is it's ability to read nickles. I found very few nickles with my X-70 as it falsed on tabs and small pieces of aluminum where nickles was supposed to read. If the E-Trac reads 12-12 or 12-13 you have a nickle almost every time. It's just a great machine.

Thanks Folks,
I appreciate the information. Have a great day!
