First of all let me say, I use an X-Terra 70, so the only numerical reading I get is conductivity. My mind has been recently wandering to what I may be missing, having only one indicator of target composition. I just got back from a hunt at a local park where I dug a ton of bottlecaps that gave me readings from 34-46 on the conductivity scale, which could be anything from a copper penny to a silver dollar for me. Sometimes I can tell that it is a bottlecap because the signal is "scratchy" as it jumps from say 42-44 or 44-46 but I have dug good targets that sound "scratchy" too in that number range so I feel that I can't use that as an absolute.
My question for you "Dual Reading" people is " Does having both a conductivity, as well as a ferrous reading, help you to identify a bottlecap from a coin?"
Thanks in advance.
