fernandina beach treasure??

I was hunting fernandina beach this past saturday. I hit what sounded like a slightly faint high pitch. but covered an area of around a foot and a half . i scooped a bit but nothing. so i cleared an area about 4 foot round and a foot and a half or so deep. signal still there but not too much louder. i went down around a foot or so deeper and signal a bit louder. i had to dig out around a bit more to prevent colapse back into hole. got down around 3 foot (wish i had a big spade shovel....) still there a bit louder...... down another foot water now filling...... still there.......... i am exhausted........ every scoop hole becomes filled with water and sand. i try to reach down as far as i can with my arm but cant feel object. since tide was mid way out i figured in about two hrs. the tide will be out and hole will not fill up as deep with water. i head down the beach a bit. two hrs later i go back to find some kids had filled th hole back in go figure........ i kindly thanked them for that.......but my fault i shouldnt of left a big 4 foot hole..... well i dug it back out but was incountering much of the same problem as earlier. but i was now able to reach down through the sand and water and touch the object. this was very hard reaching down into the hole . but object felt of rusted steel. which was odd cuz there was no iron nulling from the excal. I could not feel to the edges of it. so i filled the hole back in. tired and sandy,,, i headed home. i did make note of area and can with out a doubt go back to the same spot. also the beach right now is cut down approx. 4 to 5 foot due to hurricanes and beach errosion. this would make the object around ten foot down. i hope to get back there this coming weekend with a good spade shovel. could use a hand. if any one in north florida or any where for that matter interested contact me. there is a lot of crazy history around this area.

HAPPY HUNTING !!

Could be a large metal object or a chest of buried treasure..
You may have to go back with a big shovel or a small backhoe.
Good luck if you try again and hope its something of value for your efforts.

I have it in one of my books if it is important. A US ship had an encounter with him and he and most of his crew died in the encounter. One survivor said that the pirate was returning to Amelia IS. to retrieve a treasure he had buried. The man had no idea were it was and there was no reason for him to lie.

Not getting to it then could be a mistake. Many treasures have been lost by waiting, like the one in Ponce Deleon Springs. Seen many times, but never gotten.

i hunted 4 diff spots there Monday and only found 6 cents!............looks like it was sanded in to me.

A bit north of where i was hunting they were pumping up sand onto the beach. the area i was hunting was in front of the public beach access north of a fishing pier. i got quite a bit of clad most up near the cut out. no gold..... some junk jewlrey. the sand was fairly soft even though more than five foot has been cut out due to storms.

i started out way south at Van Dyke and hit 4 spots north to the Sandy Bottom Pub.i might try farther north toward Fort Clinch next week.
