feint signal

If you are asking once you make a plug and turn it over and re-scan the hole NO assuming your stating the coin still in the hole and not in the plug.
As a matter of fact, if you dig ten inches move your buried Indian Head etc. or disturb the soil around it put your plug back in the hole you will not even hear it now more likely then not.
You might want to look up Halo Effect on Buried Coins etc.
If you are using a probe which I would guess your not referring too. Then YES as the probe obviously gets closer it will get louder. That's why the X1 is so great :)

Hope this helps you! :)

Just recently posted on a deep crusted wheatie....well crusted wheatie from about a foot and really fooled me as the depth gauge almost showed a thin line at best and thought for sure had a nice silver coin as didn't act like a wheatie..Well down 10-11 inches and signal went away and I just smiled as been there done that with deep coins and knew my next scoop of dirt would have my coin.

On some detectors the audio get louder when you open up a plug but not with the Explorer series but usually the halo effect refers to most detectors...Yep experience is the best teacher and imagine a few nice coins have been left because of halo effects and of course a good pinpointer really helps....
