Feedback Question

Went to a park the other day and and it was like I was hunting next to an Etrac all day. Nothing but feedback/chirps and bleeps. It has only happened in the presence of an Etrac to me so far so that is all I have to compare it to. This park is OLD for around here. I did manange to squeek a 1919d merc and 1913s barber in good to fine condition out of the park so I'm glad the machine still performed. I tried manual and auto sens and was using ferrous coin/combine. I noise cancelled and ground balanced as well to try and quiet it down but to no avail. Any advice or tricks would be greatly appreciated to quiet it down at this park.

Did you manually noise cancel? If not I have had to a couple of times and found a quite channel. May not solve your problem but if you have'nt tried manual noise cancel give it a try. Also make sure there is no metal under your coil when you noise cancel. Good luck and keep us posted. HH :minelab:

I didn't switch channels manually no. Next time I get a chance to go back I'll give that a try. Thanks!

That old park is out there in the middle of nowhere so it would be hard to say what was causing the interference, but it does happen without explanation. I haven't experienced the noise problem and I have hunted it dozens of times so it could have been a sunspot cycle or Ham/CB radio EMI. I would like to think it was an isolated incident and the next time you are in the area, give it another try.

It's really hard sometimes to narrow down and EMI source sometimes. I know 2 places near me I cant detect with any machine.
