Well, I just received my X70 today. Haven't had a chance to get it on some soil yet but really looking forward to it.
I wanted to ask you pros what depth I can expect from the stock coil and the 6" HF coil and if anyone has some good suggestions outside of the FAQFAQ
postings?

Lambo

my stock coil gets good depth, I find coins quite often in the 6-7" range. The deepest measured coin I have found was a seated dime at 9" with the stock coil on, and it was just a quiet whisper

David, I got the x70. 525.00 new w/ warranty I thought was a pretty good deal.
Goes4ever, I would think it would do a little better than that on depth. My dealer said you can get 6 to 7" on a dime with a 6"HF coil.
Now I am starting to question whether I should have gone with the 10.5 LF because my primary goal is deeper coins.
Thoughts?????

10.5 is a MF,
You will do fine. Run it in all metal. I have found mini balls at 14 with the stock coil and my deepest coin was an 1806 half cent at 12" But I think those are in ideal conditions.

I'm not David, but it looks like you got a GREAT deal! I don't know how long you've been detecting, but I've been coinshooting for over 37 years. In those years I've come to realize that (in the places I hunt) there are far more old coins still hiding out there due to target masking, then because of extreme depth. As such, the 6-inch DD will separate those coins from the trash better than a concentric or the larger 10.5 DD. Which, by the way, only comes in 7.5 kHz and 18.75 kHz. Not the LF you mentioned. Lambo, for only $82 more, you could have had the new X705.

Here's how the math breaks down....

X705 cost $698. Use Live.com's cashback feature, and buy the X705 from an auth. dealer on ebay. Pay with Paypal and get cashback. A few days ago, the cashback amount was 13%. That would have given you a $90.78 refund making your net cost $607.26.

You paid $525 for the X70. Thus, for only $82.26 more, you would have gotten the latest model, improved features, and a 3 year warranty.
