Feb. 1st Finds with XTerra 50

I met Ken and Lamar at the site where Lamar dug the LA buckle and Wreath. With the ground wet we figured that we could find some deeper relics. Ken and Lamar dug into a dump and found some bottles and a cooking pot. I hunted the steep ravines and found a CS Droop Wing Button, Overcoat US "I" Buton, 1854 Dime, and misc. relics. This site is loaded in square nails and the relics are deep. The X50 continues to impress me with it's depth and discrimination.

I bet you all had a lot of fun also. That coin does not look right, if you send it to me, I will check it out real good, lol. I found this shell,it looks like a 45-70, but look at the primer. We found several in a old spot that we were hunting in Oklahoma. I was thinking 1863 Springfield...HH..BJ

Hi BJ,

I have several of these and was told they are military and the date is stamped on the end with the place they were made. I think most of mine have a 8 and a 7 so it would be 1887 and there should be a letter also that is the place it was made. Most all of them I got were from the 1880s. I was also told these were used for many year after the date too for 4th of July and other holidays.

Say the relics were deep huh ? That's something I've learned to not worry about when using the X-Terra anymore :)
Nice pile of goodies. Looks like walking the ravines was a good idea.

the weather has turned cold here and it appears it may be a few weeks before we can get back out to hunt. Those of you who are still able to dig have to keep the rest of us entertained! HH Randy
