I dodged some rain storms Saturday and got out by myself for a little short hunt. I didn't have a newer place to go, so I decided to go to one of my old pounded sites and just spend a little time walking back and forth really covering the ground between "spots" where I have found most of my stuff on the property. I figured it would either be good or bad, and well heck, at least I was out. The sun finally came out and it became a very nice day.

Well I wasn't totally alone. MMMOOOOOOOOOOOOO...a lot of these TN relics are being guarded by cows or other livestock these days.

I dug one lonesome drop bullet and then I got something from my WANTED list. I didn't realize it at first...thought it was a pair of pliars or something. I cleaned it up a little at home and cleaned it a little better since the pic was taken. It's a bullet mold for those that don't know. It looks to have molded two pistol balls of around .31 or .36 caliber. It is brass as well. I'm happy with it for sure! I like digging firsts!! It's a feaster for me. I hunted and hunted the surrounding areas and never found another relic. But hey it was worth spending a little bit out digging. Oh yeah and I did walk the plowed field by the house and got a few points the other day.

And here's a good shot of the bullet mold and that caltrop thingy or whatever yall called it. Both are firsts and both are decent finds or so I'm told.

That was the 2nd one to come off this spot. I first thought the site was just a musket discharge area because of all the shot 3 ringers. I would only take folks there who had never dug a bullet before to kinda get them a pocketful of relics to start their relic hunting off with. Then one of them had to go and do that newbie thing of digging all those beeps and he came up with a cannister ball. I didn't think much of that except for it to be odd that only one cannister ball was found. Then it started happening...everybody I brought there would find a cannister ball. So the next time I went to take a couple of newbies there, I decided to let them hunt for lead while I tried for those cannister balls. Well I found that caltrop there at that site digging the iron hits and when they IDed it for me on the forums, cause I had no idea what it was....my uncle saw the post and remembered he had found one there too here a while back. So now we are thinking it must have been the site of the a skirmish. We're just waiting on them to mow the hay so we can really get in there and work it good digging those iron hits we have been ignoring. The day I found my caltrop, we had to hunt in small patches of ground where the grass wasn't high. Which meant a lot of walking to and from these little spots where you couldn't swing a coil any closer than 3' from the ground.

Very nice finds. The calthrop and bullet mold are really nice. That is sure beautiful country. Even if you didn't find anything, just walking around out there would be great. Keep digging.

I hope you are on to something. Its well worth the effort because you have alreadyy got some awesome finds. Keep on digging
