Fear Of The Unknown.......

Well, I got my Explorer II yesterday. I think it will be fun to learn. Have had the Safari before and it looks like the Explorer will work better for me as a relic hunter. I have stayed away from the FBS machines thinking they are too slow working in iron infested areas, but from playing around in my test bed in the yard, it looks like the Explorer will work out ok. It came with a Sunray X-8 and I have a X-12 and a Pro coil on the way. PLUS you guys have me curious on hunting for the old silver. Got a few places that I can do that at also. I think I'll use the factory settings for awhile and then give Brice's program a try. Last, but not least, I will also get Andy's book to study too...............MO

You will have fun with the Exp II, they are great for finding old deep silver. I had a 10 minute learning curve and found it simple to use. Results may vary, good luck!

The key to finding anything is to go out and make sure your coil is over top of it!! Then as long as the machine is on, there is a good chance you will get a signal. Your next step is to dig that signal to see what your machine found for you. If it sits in a closet, or if you decide not to dig, well the silver isn't going to just jump in your pouch!! Good luck!

Well, not new to the hobby, been at it for over 35 years. Cut my teeth on beep & dig machines, so I usualy dig everything but Iron being a relic hunter. The new digital machines have found me alot in places that I have thought worked out. I try to hunt at least 4-8 hours a week in the fall thru spring months. Still looking for that edge in iron and a little more depth. I have found bullets and buttons with my Xterra 70 at 12" deep. Did not coin hunt with it thou, that's what I hope the EX II will do well for. Yea, I remember when silver laid on the ground in parks like clad does now. When that party was over in the mid 80's, that's when I started relic hunting alot.

I am new at this hobby, just started this year but I cannot imagine silver laying on the ground like clad! I'm old enough :) just a late starter.
