I have a Lobo Super traq and love the the way it buzzes on good targets and breaks up on bad even though it chatters a little there is no mistake on a repeatable good sound.Tried my hunting partners Vaquero It ran quiet compared and to the to the lobo however I prefer the audio sound of good targets with the Lobo although a little more depth would be handed to the Vaquero. This allows me to move along at a steady pace without having to investigate every clip or chirp and be alerted by the slight buzz of a deep coin.I haven't had a chance to try the rest of tesoros lineup which leads to my question and your suggestion what would be a good compliment as a second machine to the Lobo in regards to its audible response?CEDAR

Lets face it,

I'm a little biased with regards to the early Tesoro's with ED-120 discrimnation circuit, they just run quiet in the iron nails when set to minimum Disc. I like to work them around old homesteads, torn down old buildings, sidewalk tearouts etc........if the detector beeps, you dig, could be something good under your coil, you never know.

The Silver umax gives good "trash talk" characteristics and unless you sock it to the sensitivity you will find most stuff the first 4-5" and have a quick idea of it's value. Of course, tabs will still fool you.

I had a Golden and still have a Vaquero, didn't like the closeness of the middle tone frequencies. I don't think I'll ever get rid of Vaquero though, The depth, light weight, great target separation and dead on pinpointing, I don't use the pin point button unless I'm wanting a bit more target info., just X the target .

I wish tesoro had a lobo audio response in at least one of the relic hunting units, it's a great sound and relays a lot of target info. As far as I know, no other tesoro has that audio sound. The silver umax would be comparable in that it relays a lot of target info in the audio response but sounds nothing like the lobo. To give you an idea of the sound, it would be higher pitched and a more rounded beep than the Vaquero with more crackling and signitures on good/bad targets.
Also the Lobo is deeper than most think, set the threshold at a barely audible and you will notice a small 'tick woot tick' on faint deep targets. the faint 'tick' sound is what identifies the signal as a signal and not a flucuation in ground matrix. You WILL need head phones to hear it and in my experience,it is deeper than the Vaq, But I don't use headphones.

I have both a lobo and a vaq.they are both great detectors.the lobo is definitely a deeper machine.it has surprised me a more than a few times on deep small items-if it says to dig start digging.headphones are a must and a pin pointer is also handy.myself I use a pistol probe.regaudless of model ya can't go wrong with tesoro eqiptment.

Made a trade on a deleon the only thing that bothers me is the preset G.B. heard good reviews not getting rid of the Lobo to nights hunt 1931 and 1944 wheaties old sleigh ring old bottle. Thanks for the input members CEDAR

Older notch units just have audio variances which is a plus but lack the depth of some of the newer Tesoro's so it all comes down to personal preferences and good luck in your choice...
