Favorite coil for the Spectra V3

I was curious to what every ones "favorite" coil is to use with the V3 and why. I currently have the stock coil (10" DD) and the Eclipse 9.5. I favor the Eclipse 9.5. In my opinion it is more stable especially on the beach. I am looking to purchase another coil. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I hunt on beaches, parks and school grounds.

My advise would be to go ahead and grab the 6x10 DD.Target separation and stability are very nice plus better than decent depth. A very close second would be the 5.3 Eclipse for decent depth, low noise and it works so sweet for getting in, around and under things. Down the road....4x6 shooter for chain link fence lines and it's also a great little prospecting coil. (I better stop...so easy to spend someone else"s money bro!)

The 950 you have is a great coil and Whites had to think long and hard (it seems) to switch to the DD's as standard. I like them both equally but try to use the DD a lot (for the added separation) in heavily hunted spots.

It really depends on so many things such as what type soil you have. I have 4 coils, but like you I prefer the 9.5 inch. My soil tends to be mild and I feel that I get more depth.

For beaches go larger, for parks you may wish to go with a smaller coil that allows you to get in between the trash and close to poles and other equipment.

I decided to go with the 5.3. I can always add the 6x10 and/or the 4x6 at a later date. Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think you can go wrong with the 5.3 I have that as my extra coil for trashy parks. Works GREAT!! You'll probably enjoy the light weight and it's pinpointing is really exceptional. Depth is pretty good too, I've picked some little wheaties at 8 inches with mine.

My favorite is the D2,it just plain gets deep. For a trashy area or cleaning up an area to go deep with the D2,I like the 6X10.

My favorite coil is the D2 because I am hunting for deep coins. The 9.5 is the go to coil for Beach hunting. The 6x10 is a good coil because it has the good separation and is less effected by EMI. It however gets the depth of a 6" coil. if you don't need deep it's good.

The 5.3 is a great coil and I prefer it to the 4x6, but I don't hunt with a small coil. So the coil has to match what you are hunting for. As a matter of fact I bought a 5.3 coil new and have never put it on a detector. I'm going to sell it just because for what I hunt I don't need it. Rob

My favorite right now is the SEF 8x6, 2nd is the D2. I also have the 5.3 and the 4x6. I like the 4x6 but it loses a little depth but is deadly on more shallow targets like under 6".

I have not found a concentric coil that I care for... i've just always used DD coils and can't seem to warm up to a concentric coil... and I always feel like I have to overlap too much or I might miss something if I am using a concentric coil. I've tried the 950 and didn't like it either but I didn't give it much time.

In the "bad" ground the DD coils seem to excell over the concentric.

I'll generally start with the stock coil, and when it gets trashy then I'll switch to the 4 x 6. I only have the stock & 4x6 for the V3i (Vision upgraded). A few that I know that have the V3i really like the 5.3
Some of the areas I hunt get moderate to high mineralized soil conditions. So for some reason I opted for the 4x6 for those trashy areas.
I haven't tried any other coils myself. Maybe sometime I'll think about trying the 9.5 & 5.3

The 9.5 will work great if the EMI is a problem and the ground does not have too mineralization. I'm not having the EMI problem so I save the 9.5 for the beach.

Electromagnetic interference (or EMI, also called radio frequency interference or RFI) is a disturbance that affects an electrical circuit due to either electromagnetic conduction or electromagnetic radiation emitted from an external source. ...

Electromagnetic interference... cellphones or towers, TVs or stations, electric fences, other detectors, etc.

You have to leave it in the truck and buy flowers in order for it to work.
