"fatty' Indians

half-dime dave

New member
Hi All, New to the forum and still finding my way around. I posted a question the other day and now I can't find it again! So, I'm looking for a little help.
I keep hearing about "fatty" Indian heads. Can you tell me what that means and what years were they issued? Thanks for your help.

First off welcome to the forum. I cant answer your question about Indian heads but can tell you why (most likely) you cant find your previous question. On forums like this you have to ask a question specific to the topic of the forum or the moderators will move it to where it should be posted. So here the topic is Garrett and even though you may use a Garrett detector this question has nothing to do with finds using a Garrett detector or questions about them so it is off topic and will get moved to where you can get the best answer to the question. For this question I would post it in the Metal Detecting Forum to get the best results. This is a great place for learn, helping and educating everyone about metal detecting but you have to ask or post thing that are on topic for the forum you are in. Hope this helps and again welcome to the forum.

A 'Fatty' Indian head penny is the thick IH pennies made from 1859-1863. In 1864,they slimmed down to the size of the normal penny we see today.
