Father's Day hunt started out good...then

Diggin-it

New member
Decided to go try my luck at a swim hole a buddy told me about this morning. 45 minutes into the hunt I had found 52 cents in clad, a fake ring, and a nice .925 heart pendant. Then I dig up a sinker, and completely miss the hook on it and end up with it stuck in my finger. I pull it out and bleed it out for a minute, then I can see it left behind some of that nasty black crude that attaches itself to metal in inland lakes. Hunt is over....got to go try and clean it out. Got home and dug the heck out of my finger but could not get it all out. Cleaned it up and put some drawing salve on it..will have to watch it for infection. Had a tetnis shot within the last 5-7 years so should be fine there. This evening I decided to hit the local beach...do some dry sand hunting. Pulled $3.81 in clad, a few odds and ends and a working iPhone 4. Got to clean all the sand out of the ports and charge it to get an owners name and get it returned. If it wasn't for the sore finger it would have been a great Father's Day.

Good hunting!
Sorry about your finger with the hook, stay alert on the evolution of the wound, these residues may cause problems if you are careless.
best regards

Bummer! Good job on the phone return though.:clapping:.I bet that guy was very happy to get it back!

Great bunch of loot you got there!! Sorry your got "hooked" in the process. I hope your next stop is to a sports or dive shop to get a set of gloves to wear when you water hunt. I don't do any type of hunting without gloves. Water, land, summer, winter, the gloves go on when the detector comes out. Just too many creepy things wating to get your hands.

And that in itself is a great find. Too bad on the finger though. If no infection....a small price for a couple of good hunts!

I also always use gloves, field or beach. You avoid these accidents, sand sores and keep your hands clean, very important when there is no water to wash between the hunting field and the car.;)

Nice job on the goodies! Hope your finger heals up good without any issues.

HH!

Nice finds except for the hook. That's a completely different meaning from being hooked on dirt fishing. Hope you got it all out of your finger.

Well the drawing salve worked wonders and pulled the crude out of the wound, amazing stuff!! My arm hurts though...I thought I a tetanus shot about 5-7 years ago, Dr. office said no...over 9 years ago. So to be safe I got the booster shot yesterday.

Gonna stop at a few dive supply stores and check out gloves...definitely don't want a repeat.
