Today I dug this chain and medal, I don't know if the chain is silver the pendent looks like it might be
On the front of the Mary by her feet is a date 1830 no idea what this might be, thanks for looking

Catholic religious pendant. .. i have found them in silver and bronze... they still make them with the 1830 on them... still a very cool find...
 
Cool! check the chain with a magnet...thats the first and easiest way to tell, but by no means proof positive unless it sticks to the magnet...then at least you know its not silver.
