father day finds using sef 10x12

The knife in pic was down about 3 inches and also 3 inches away was part of a can but still was able to tell two different items were in ground one sounded good and the other which was the part a coke can sounded all broken up.The cross sounded good the chain was stretch all way out in dirt it measure 21 inches but still was able to pick it up with coil and trace it in the dirt. The ring came in as good signal about 4 inches down and the again another signal about 2 inches away but deeper was out side small baseball field and before i could dig it someone came to play base ball had to wait about hour till they were done practicing went back and found the other signal kept ringing good now this is about one of those deep wholes i dug and dug i was down about 12 inches and using pin pointer knew it was in bottom of whole then thunder storm rolls in and start to rain now i know iam only inches from item finally pull it out and you know it it was junk two like 7 inch long nails tarred together have know idea why they were there. But that coil picked up on both targets.

Fred are you aware there is another explorer room where most of the finds are posted? Those are some great finds might want to show them off where more of the explorer uses read.

Yes but you know i have been on forum for a while Registered: 09/03/2005 10:03PM
Posts: 3,861 on different ones and not to say any thing wrong people in the minelab are a different lot now iam in that lot but it seems you must post great finds and i know dont, no silver or really old coins . So i stay down here in the class room and post once in a while.Til i find something old .The area around here it pretty new.Other parts of Ohio are older and it seems all the silver is getting hard to come across. My brother in law use to post but we have not hunted this year together much.So iam working on improving my silks with the minelab. Then i will move up. thanks.

I know a lot of people feel they have to have ground shaking finds to post.... thats a shame. Anyone whose been out there digging knows that we all have different interests as to what is a good find. I dont show a lot of my finds either and i hunt a good bit. Im currently in a club where very few members post their finds.... which i think is because they dont feel their finds are as good as some of the best hunters. Takes some effort to make them understand its all an important part of the hobby. Personally i dont post because im too lazy lol. But its great to lay out a days finds looking at what you got be it junk or treasure thats the part that keeps me in it. It lets me see what im digging and make changes to my digging habits. I never had an I LOVE ME wall in the army and havent done it here to show off. But i like to see what others have found... and can always say.... heyyyyy i got one of those before. HH

[size=large]Fred, i can tell you aren't hunting in my neck of the woods. my knife was red.
i agree with dc. personnally i'm a little tired of the same people constanly showing the same finds. always silver and ih and gold rings. then there's the rest of us who have finds like yours. those i call normal.and honest finds. at least it's more believable.jmo

Maybe it takes time but in my area not really old and if you find old area you cant hunt there. The metro park need a permit and city doesnt want you in there parks but they have foot ball fields soccer fields swimming skateboard jogging path fishing la cross name it and you can do it but don't walk around with a metal detector you are a evil person here to ruin everything and you probably have a back hoe hidden some where to dig a find and then:shrug leave a sink hole for people to fall in.Try to explain that they dont even have a clue or know anything about the hobby or what iam doing, just old wife tales about metal detecting.

It really is location when it comes to some of the excellent finds. They do a lot of research and hit locations from old maps and news papers that just havent been detected.
With all the new people detecting and even cheap machine being very good parks are getting picked out except for recent finds. I know when i take the time to look at some of the old county maps ive gotten some unbelievable finds. Silver and old coppers is what the ML does best .... thats why they are the standard for this when people do new detector comparisons. Ive noticed a lot more interest in changing styles with the price of gold being high. Thats leading to more gold finds.... something that take a little concentration with the ML.
