Fast Tracker vs. Tracker IV

Hello

I'm interested in getting a backup unit for my Lonestar.

I am very tempted by the tracker IV, but only to use the tone disc. Now, we have a bargain offer on the FAST TRACKER on this side of the Atlantic ocean, and as I don't read too much about them (reviews are scarce), I' d like to know if it is what I think : a Tracker IV without meter and true disc, or am I wrong.

The benefit for me of a Fast tracker being a 7" coil to add to my collection, the price, and a supposed lower battery drain.

I would use any of the units mainly on the beach with the 10" mag coil, and the 7" would be perfect in parks, tot lots and soft paths over here.

Thank you for your comments.

The Fast Tracker I own will not use a 5 pin connector from the coil to the box. I bought it through a secondary supplier so that may be the reason. I would check it out with Kellyco. It is a basic detector although it has found iron objects over a foot down. So you probably may not be able to use your other coils on the Fast Tracker unless Bounty Hunter ,makes other coils for the Fast Tracker. I may be wrong but this is what I found with my Fast Tracker.

It is Supposed to have a 7.25" interchangeable coil...This is from the First Texas WebSite:

Go through the tutorial until it comes to the features section...

Well, Thank you for the comments and the links.

Seems indeed that the Fast tracker 's got the full "tone" mode from the tIV.

Think I will give it a try. Sells here for 80 euro, about $125,-, making it the cheapest "serious" unit for sale over here.

Within a few years, 9V batteries will be more expensive than metal detectors ! One Duracell 9V sells here 7,5 euro, something like $11,50. And that ain't a bargain !!

Thanks and HH.
