Fast Grab and Manual ground balance

I may be confused a bit. I am new to the F75 machine but not new to detecting. I got this one in November and it had the 11-14 date and it was not getting any depth, usually less than 6", but would sweep and say 10-12" abut the target was always at less than 6". It was stone cold quiet. I sent it back and got another one with a 3-15 date and this one is exceptionally chirpy. I could trun the other on in the house and it was quiet at 80 sense, but this one is chirpy in 9.0 and 9.1 at sense of 30. But, that is not the question.

On 'fast grab' all it takes is to get it over ground with no metal, then hold it about a foot off the ground and push the toggle switch forward and pump the machine rapidly. A number should appear and to me, just a few moments ago it was 52. So I went to 'manually ground balance' the machine. Selected all metal Motion, then down to 'Manual GB'. The book says at that point a message "Pump coil to G.B' will appear. There is no message! The number on the screen is 90 I wait and it goes back to detecting. So, I did it again, and pumped the coil up and down and it appeared to be 'detecting' not 'ground balancing', The number stayed at 90 when I tried it again.

So, I did the same thing again, in 'Manual G.B.' except I pushed the toggle forward and then a little message appeared to pump the coil I did and the number changed to 52, which was the same number in the disc mode when I did the 'Fast Grab'. So, did I manually GB or did I do a Fast Grab?

Question I have is is there supposed to be a message appear without pushing the toggle forward when in 'all metal, manual G.B'? Or is it a misprint? The machine is not really quietened down, just a tiny bit less noisy.

Manual ground balance does not use the toggle. You have to turn the Settings knob while pimping (I do 1" to 6" & back). It will change from making sound as you raise to sound as you push depebding on the balance. You want just a hair of sound as you LOWER the coil for most sois.

I think your missing one little item. If you go to manual GB you need to keep making changes with the settings knob while you pump the coil, if you stop making changes the control time out in about 7 seconds.

So if it times out you will need to push the red button again.

Now while you are pumping the coil you will be listening for changes in the auto as you go to and from the ground, the idea is to keep pumping and adjusting until you have very little change in volume from the ground or to the ground.

You are pretty close, check your manual now that you have the basics.

For a manual ground balance, try first a ground grab, then when in AM, go down to ground balance on display try adjusting your balance a little using knob. You are going to notice the number in the screen will not change with just one detent knob change. This is so you can fine tune your GB. And as the previous poster stated, you are looking for your machine upon raising and lowering your coil to the ground to be quiet. If you get your machine to where it makes the smallest of noise as the coil approaches the ground that'll do.

I never got to the 'pumping the coil' as there was never a message saying to do that as the manual states. So, I went outside and tried it. set in all metal, motion, then down to Manual Ground Balance, and immediately started pumping it up and down and turning the knob. Started turning clockwise and the numbers went up and louder noise, then counter clockwise and it went down and the sound went down. The sound was almost totally eliminated at about 54.

So, I guess the bit about getting a message on the screen about 'pump the coil' is a misprint.

Thanks very much guys. Now I will see if I can find anything tomorrow.

Congrats
