Fast, Deep, none or both

Excuse the question if its already been asked but when should I use FAST, DEEP, NONE or BOTH. It seems in a heavy trash area you want to use fast to hear a good signal if its next to iron. How about DEEP, NONE OR BOTH? If its not a trashy area should I always be hunting in DEEP? Thanks for all the help.

and I seem to always have that filter on, using Bill's advice, unless it's really trashy. I have tried deep at my local trashy park and had some trouble. When I switched to fast I was literally pulling coins (yeah, usually clad) out of the same hole with iron.
Hopefully someone with more experience will post their thoughts. Right now I'm sold on deep with a slow sweep at almost every site.
HH,

I mainly hunt in the Deep mode. I am a natural slow sweeper and I like to get the most out of the machine as possible. IM -8,Deep mode, sens. 29 Auto, very light threshold,Gain of 5,gives better response on the deepies. I use the auto sensativity so that the exp can select the best setting for the site! Learned this from Goldigger and surely his coin finds attest to the using of this setting. Seems to run smoother for my type of hunting. Last but not least always Use Noise Cancel at each site, sometimes more than once depending on the ground.

If gain is set at 5, instead of say 7, does the deep mode enhance the signal on shallower targets?
My understanding is the deep mode increases the audio response to the deeper targets. I don't know how the software is setup but I would assume it somehow determines the audio level of each target and only enhances those really faint targets. Seems to make sense there would be more faint targets with a gain at 5 than at a higher number.
Maybe I should move down a bit from my setting of 7 when using this filter.
Any thoughts??
Thanks,
Doug

You are definatly on the right track Doug. With the gain actually being like a volume control. A setting of 5 gives a softer tone on the really deep coins. If it is set higher it will make the deep coins sound just like all the rest of the signals. Can't mistake the sound when using the large coil. If using the SR8 I set gain at 7 and get the same response. Try it and see if you like it, if not just up the gain again. Love to hear those wispers.
