Farm permission & a few silvers

I was doing some scouting about a week ago and saw a couple guys doing some drainage work near an old farm. I stopped to ask them if it was their farm and mentioned detecting. Wasn't their farm but the guy said that he owned a farm over the hill and I was welcomed to detect. Farm house is from the early 1700s and his family owned the land since 1912. LOTS of field acres and some wooded areas. He watched me at his farmhouse and liked my technique.
He said I could come anytime I wanted and detect any where on the property (I gave him a 1911 dog license found right in front of the house). He also gave me his planting layout to let me know what fields I could do now and those to hit in the fall after harvest. Super nice guy.
I swept the fairly small front yard and was disappointed that I didn't find any oldies, but I did stir up 3 silvers ( 1918s, 1942, 1964 dimes ). I plan to work the fields off and on through the fall. It's crap shoot but it will be a "go to" spot.

i live in the country, lots of old farm houses have never had any luck finding any goodies. some thoughts on this, if they had girls ,no pockets no spills ,money was scarce,

Thanks John,
I usually do well on farms in Ct. LCs, Ct coppers, KG IIs are fairly common, especially on the building lot proper. They also turn up in the fields along with the occasional Spanish silver. Like I said, it's a crap shoot. One farm will produce and the next one could be a complete bust.

Nice finds - maybe the front yard has been filled since the olden days. Good luck when you return.

Who knows what's waiting for you in that field- bet you can hardly wait to get out there! Good luck when you do- keep us posted!
