farm hunting

Depending where it is, out East there were a lot of old houses that are no longer there and just a Field. Around here we are seeing where old race track were years ago and are only farm Fields now. Some were even used for old fairground that are long gone and are farm Fields now. Do research and you will find that some of these places are good and many have forgotten about them and some being the ground turned every year or so will bring new coin and misc to the surface.

There is also a website called www.ghosttowns.com. You can click on
your state and see where there is or were ghost towns. SOme are long
gone (no buildings at all) while others are still inhabitied but barely

Yesterday I went to google and typed in Ghost Towns of Indiana and came up
with an extensive list of places that were and still are, in a limited sense.

" Why detect a farm field?" If you visit alot of forums. You will find out that their is alot of stuff in these fields besides "Tractor Parts". Depending where you are,,,,All kinds of things can be found. You will read where guys have asked permission to detect a corn field after the combines have gone through and left the 6 inch stalk stubble >They swing their coils along the bare area between the rows of stalks and discover that besides broken horse drawn plow parts, metal tack items from the harnesses, they discover that houses barns etc once stood where some of these huge fields are now. There are places (for example) in the south fork area (above Alpine) in Utah where avalanches took out whole mining towns (example maryellen gulch). Nails, coins nuggets, lamp parts harmonica's etc. are in the gulches below where they once stood. When they tear up asphalt roads in the old downtown areas detect the area (once were old boardwalks and stuff falls between the cracks etc. When inclement weather spoils you hunting days....do research! i know when you were in school homework sucked,,,,But this kind of homework pays off:detecting: ..Sorry for the long drivel.

An added plus is not having to worry about the sod! :clapping:
