Farm field hunt

New member
Went for a hunt today and found some interesting items. A small button made by Benedict & Coe (1829 & 1834), 1975 Dog tag, two jewelry pieces, a jack knife, a buckle, misc. junk and a 1781 2 reales coin. :) My first spanish silver. Great day to be out. JCalz

Nice going Jeff !

Man a 1700s coin! Your head must still be spinning. I know mine would be if I ever find one that old.

If you get a chance tell us how deep it was and soil condition.

Coondog, my head is still spinning. The field was dry dry dry and very rocky for a farm field. It had not been plowed and with no rain, the ground was very hard. The coin was 4-6 inches down and it came up when I first popped the plug. I thought it was a silver quarter until I picked it up.

Wow, what an amazing find that 1781 silver reale is! I would still be slumped over the plug looking at it and mumbling as the ambulance crew loaded me up and put the paddles to me! Congratulations!

A huge congrats on finding the 1700's dated Silver coin ! :beers:
