Four years ago this past Christmas my wife and I received a gift from our Children that was to change our very lives.I will never forget the look on Lindas face when she opened the little shoe boxed size package and out popped a little weird shaped puppy no larger than a squirrel.I remember inwardly groaning as my wife oohed and awed and made a fuss over the tiny little 8 week old miniature daschound puppy that squirmed in her arms.I really didn

Dan,dan,Dan, u were not grieving just for a dog--U were grieving for a very special love.
I once had a dream over and over and it went like this; As we small pet lovers find out when we enter the pearly gates of heaven we are allowed to see our beloved small ones again and see them like they were here on earth with us.. I had a couple Baptist preachers smirk at me over this, for of not HAVING A SOUL, bit i reminded them that god used animals all thru the bible for references, so why would he exclude them from heaven......then i asked each one of them what heaven looked like and neither had been there soooooooooooooooooooooooooo
and yep, they can git under yur skin very fast, they just seem to know when the days are bad and share those bad times with you.
got to love them itty bitty critters, them special buddies, they keep us young, I feel your pain!

I am glad that he had a loving master and a great home during his short stay on this earth. You and your friend will be in my thoughts. Kelley (Texas) <img src="/metal/html/sad.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":sad">

Dogs grow on you, worm their way into your heart and when they do leave, you are the poorer for it. It is a sad time..
No words of mine [poor as they may be] can really help you through this. Know only that you have good friends on the forum who wish only the best for you, and are thinking of you.
Take care buddy.
All the best

There is an episode of the "Twilight Zone" where an old man and his dog were out by the river hunting coon. Well, the dog got a scent, and off he goes. He chases the coon out on an old tree that has fallen into the river. The coon jumps in, and the dog follows. The old hunter gets to worrying that the coon might drown his dog, so he jumps in , too.
The next thing you know the old man is coming to, on the bank, and there sits his dog, who he figured dragged him out. But he can't find his gun, so he starts looking, and sees something terrifying. It is his body and the dog dead. They both were drown.[there's more minutiae I can't remember]
He and his old dog are walking down the road, and he sees a road off to the side with a man standing there. And he asks the man, is this heaven. The man replies, welcome brother. The old man and his dog start to go in when the man , says, he can't enter here, and walks toward the dog which starts growling.
The old man says, well if a dog is not welcome here it sure is no place I want to go. And they walk off.
On down the road a little ways they come to another
road with a man standing there. The old man said I talked to that feller back there, and he said I could come in, but not my dog. The man says, they don't allow dogs or any animals to enter that place, only man.
The old man asks , well what about here, and the angel says, of course he can. Welcome home brother,
and pets the dog as he and the old man enter.
Maybe some things are forever.

you come to love them and especially dogs. They love you back and become like one of the family. A family memeber you can rely on to always be there for you.
I sure am sorry for your loss but feel the little guy had a pretty good home and improved it by being there. He is still in your heart and that is good

is a thing to be mourned. I can feel your loss and sadness Dan. There will be a void that will never be filled, but time will dull the pain. Thanks for sharing Toby!

so hard when we get so attached to our pets. I believe our pets do go to heaven!! May sound silly to some, but that's just the way I feel!
