Hi guys and gals.... this note is just a little blurb about the biggest purchase I've made in about 5 years (shy of a car)..... after a phone call with Steve Herschbach regarding a slightly used Minelab GPX-4500 he listed in the for sale section, I bit the bullet and told him I would take it... the problem was I didn't get paid for another few days and had just plunked down $1,600 for an E-Trac. Steve was nice enough to hold the unit for me, even allowing me to pay over a couple pay periods when I asked about layaway... When I offered to give him a few hundred to hold it he said "Not needed, I'm a trusting sort" (or something to that effect). Well several days later, after his patiently answering numerous newbie questions from me and after the excitement of the great deal I was getting took over my thoughts day and night I instead called him and paid for the entire thing so he could ship it. He made a special effort to ship it on Monday as he knew I was excited for it, he shipped it for $20.00 and when it arrived and I called him, he refused to accept any additional shipping money (the shipping label stated it cost $68.00 to ship). Not only did I get a fantastic deal on the unit, when it arrived it was in like new condition (in fact the coil and headphones WERE new).
As mentioned on the phone Steve, I'll be calling you back next week (payday) to get that Platypus coil shipped down, thanks again. )
I'm a FIRM believer in supporting brick and mortar stores and I would rather pay a reasonable amount more for a local or physical business that makes you feel like you matter and are not just another order... I felt that way with Steve (that I mattered and he actually cared that it was the right purchase for me) except even more so due to the great price. Steve has a customer for life and I highly recommend both he and his company.
