Well guys I thought yesterdays finds in the old yard was going to be hard to beat! WRONG!! Even though I didnt find any silver
(but I tried very hard) I found more Indianheads today than I ever found in one day! + a semi key 1888 V nickle with carved letters
on the back. Also a military swords emblem(if anybody knows anything about this emblem please chime in.
also 10 wheaties,few clad.
Thanks for lookin! HH

Yes a great Day !!!!! Nice going there bud !!!!

Your emblem is definitely a US Cavalry emblem. They were usually located on soldiers hats. What the "2" and "b" stand for, I am not sure as I don't know too much about this kind of thing but I am quite sure it is a US Cavalry emblem. Good luck and please let us know if/when you figure out exactly what it is. I will research it further and see if I can figure out the specifics of it. HH -Marc

Found it. It was the "2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment" and this was troop group "B."

"During World War I, the Regiment 'saddled up' again, this time under 'Black Jack' Pershing in Europe, participating in several battles, including the Aisne-Marne Offensive. Troops B, D, F and H became the last elements of the Regiment to ever engage the enemy as mounted horse cavalry."

There you go. That's a nice piece of history you found, congrats. Thanks for sharing -Marc

I bet there is silver there somewhere

Great hunt Jim - congrats ! :beers:

I agree with the others....these are definitely some finds to drool over! Thanks for the great pictures.

I agree with Marc(MHirschmann)......on the ID

That is a very nice find and would go very well in any collection........Good luck, hope you find some other Calvery items.

Now, that is a day worth remembering. The V nickle looks like someone made it into a neckless. The piece missing at the top looks like where the hole would be and it broke off.

That is quite the tribe! Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Thank you Mark! Thats great that you researched the US Calvary emblem and letting us know some of the history around it.
By the way the 2 isnt connected I found it in the hole with my pin pointer.

Paul, I found 2 merc,s and a barber dime the day before. Its a big yard and Hopefully I,ll be going back soon.

Thanks guys for lookin! Jim HH
