Falsing on twigs/weeds/tall grass

Hello guys. I went out with the etrac today to a spot where a buddy of mine invited me too. It's an old path that has proved to be a potential hotspot because of finds he's had. Since the path is really old there were a lot of branches and grown weeds that were interrupting my swings at times, but they were also giving off false high signals when the coil rubbed up against them. Even some tall grass seemed to do this as well. I have the sensitivity at auto +3 and it seemed to stay at 24 while detecting. Is there something I can do to try to make the falsing not happen as much? I did manage to find a 1909 wheatie so I can't complain.

If you bang the coil it will false.

My old Ace 250 used to do that and it would drive me crazy. Even in manicured rec fields if I hit a weed that was a little thicker than the grass I'd get falsing. I haven't noticed it with the Etrac as much though.

That doesn't sound right! Can you swap coils with someone to verify the issue?
Be sure to check that the connection at the control box is tight and check your cable
My F75ltd will false if I just look at it cross eyed but the e-trac has always been rock stable when I bump some thing with it.
I have not heard of bad coil issues on the e-trac lately but you might give a Minelab a call , you might get it resolved by Fall

Well it wasnt horrible...i guess it was more when the coil banged up against them, not rubbed...I probably used the wrong word. I will check the coil connection though

That happens from time to time. You get used to it and also you do more "pushing" in, out and around obstacles like that. It can also happen at the end of a swing when you start back the other way. It won't bother you after a while.

Frequently clean out uner the coil cover. If dirty or sometimes wet falsing can be much worse. My coil can bang into stuff without falsing at all.

I did just clean under the coil and there was some dirt and stuff, so maybe that will help a little

Yea, i mean i knew it was falsing due to that, but there were a couple that tricked me. Im not much of a woods hunter because of the mosquitos/ticks in NY, but this plac eis definitely worth it

Bobby I think your coil is bad, try another one in the same condition.
NT use fully charged batteries and you will not have any falsing in the end of a swing.

I doubt its bad...it hasn't happened anywhere else. I haven't had isues with it falsing at the end of the swing. Someone was just saying that can happen. My issue was only when the coil got banged up against that stuff

I have noticed the same thing before, and as previously mentioned, you eventually get used to it. I can deal with some falsing every once in awhile as long as I continued to find, old, deep coins.
