Falseing Problem

Sand Scoop

New member
I may have a problem that some of you may help me with. Maybe you've had this to happen. The other day while detecting on the beach my Sovereign started falseing a lot more than normally. I set the sensitivity up and it will quit but I need to set it much higher than I usually set it. I've tried moving the cords around to check the connections and that doesn't seem to change anything. I did get caught in the rain a few days before and it might have gotten moisture inside. If so how do I open it to dry it out? Any ideas appreciated.

Sand Scoop,

I'm confused by your statement. Your saying that your having to turn the sensitivity UP to stop the falsing? Typically it's the other way around, increased/higher sensitivity results in more falsing and instability, not less.

Do you use a coil cover? If so, check to make sure your not getting any sand or dirt stuck between the coil cover and the coil, this can create all sorts issues
Good Luck,

Jeff (IL)

Are you running silent search??
Running the sensitivity high may cause the falsing to stop because the detector is nulled out from mineral. Of course you won't hear it because of silent search stopping you from hearing nulls.

The only time ive ever had a Falsing Problem with my GT, was when I got sand between the coil and the coil cover.

even small amounts of sand would cause bad Falsing

I have a excal 1000 an surf hunt and every time a wave washes in around me it falses should i tape down all cables to stop this happening or what ??? Cheers Craig from Downunder.
