false readings on BH 505

lost Hunter

New member
Having a problem with false readings on my 505, went out the other day detecting and kept getting hits at 4" dig down nothing in the ground only worms, after several hours of this I gave up, my 505 is less than a year old, Did an open air test Iron was showing as silver then Iron hold object at 8-10" would read 4" been trying to get ahold of 1ST Texas thats a real joke, any suggestions ? Thank You:crylol:

You are probably in a area with deep rusty stuff or mineral laden soil/rocks-this causes falsing.

The 505 does not have an adjustable ground balance so the only other choice is to turn down the sensitivity till it stops getting "random" high tones.

Try another spot & see if you have the same issue. I'm sure 1st texas would be happy to give it a check up. But fasling is a common issue in "tough" conditions for almost any detector-so try turning it down & also see if it behaves better in a mild soil area.

Thank you for your response Darkflight I know soil could be the problem, But I did an open air test same thing was going on hold a screwdriver over the coil 8-10" away reading would be Iron -then silver back to iron keeps repeating depth would show 4" 6" Finally got hold of 1ST Texas they said sounded like a coil problem sent it back today I"ll try to keep everyone up:dated on what they find
