False positives

Do you guys get false positives with your visions? What I am talking about is you are swinging away and you get a good signal....you stop re-scan the area and .....nothing. This happens a lot to me. Before you answer............no, My setting are not too high. I am going by what the probe is saying and/or lower than that. This happens with stock programs, with my tweaks.......all the time. I think it is sounding off on every piece of minute metal in the ground. Sometimes I will get three or four of these in one swing from left to right. I wouldn't mind if I was getting a low grunt for bits of iron etc. but I get 78-92 vdi hits. It makes detecting very slow. (and frustrating) This did not happen with my DFX, at least not to this extent. Thanks, Dan

I have had a good audio hit that caught my attention while swinging only I wouldn't get the hit again swinging back and forth over where I thought I got the hit. Since I didn't get it to repeat audio wise, I also didn't look at what the display was showing. I need the audio to catch and hold my attention before I'll pay any attention to the display. Sometimes I'll turn and try to get that good audio hit again by sweeping over that area at different angles, and most times I can't get a good signal, then I'll move on. Been using the tone ID and mostly the Coin & Jewelery mode. I usually run the Rx lowered and sensitivity usually a tad lower in settings. Sometimes I'll run the discrimination setting down to the mid 50 - mid 60s.
But then again I have had a good audio hit and would loose it. Then when I sweep from a different angle and if I can get a good audio to somewhat repeat on short sweeps I'll try to see what the display shows. I have a few times I pulled a coin up with trash close around it. The display seems to hit once in awhile but is also getting mixed by the surrounding targets, so I'll try and focus on the audio. This is where I need a small coil.
My last hunt I think I pulled 3 coins among (near trash) and almost didn't dig them as I had to work to try and get another couple good audio hits. I did try the High Trash program for a short bit but didn't do that in these spots. Then I went back to the Coin & Jewelery because I'm more used to that. Guess I'm not ready for the High Trash mode yet - I'd rather hear more of what's going on and actually rather would have liked a small coil. I might have to break and get the 5.3 coil I been reading here in Findmall.

The d2 seems to do much better in open area's like the beach......or a field ....i would not want to use it in a ghost town....If you do hunt trash ...try this for kicks and giggles with the d2 put it in salt mode IN the Coin or CJ from the live control..... just to see how it operates IN your environment......Is it better behaved ......reminds me of my old original soverighn in some ways.....if it is better with your D2 ....it is PROBABLY and I stress this word......that .you May be running the gain way to high......
Just some thoughts from my bonding withe my Vision

Happy Trails

I think that I may have figured out where I was going wrong. My bottle cap reject may have been too low. I have it set at 14 now and it seems much better. I have recovery set at 35 and if it is a good target I will get a double beep on good targets. I was in my folks yard tonight and was digging coins at 8-91/2 in. nothing old, but I loved the depth. Dan

I thought a setting of 14 would be high instead of low. Do I have this backwards?
I have mine set at 2 and didn't think of changing the setting since I did this.

In any Discrimination search mode, Bottle Cap Reject adjusts the degree the audio breaks
up (sputters) regarding iron/steel type target signals. 20 is the most aggressive (offers the
greatest degree of break up on iron/steel. OFF provides the minimum degree of audio break
up (least degree of sputter on iron/steel. 1-20 of
fers increasing degrees of audio break up.
Caution must be used as in some ground types higher settings causes all target signals to
break up or sputter.
