Fall-like Sunday Hunt

Sunday was a lot like September here in Michigan if you ask me - blustery, occasional rain, cool - reminded me of a lot of days I've spent grouse hunting in the fall. Anyway, my brother and I took a short road trip and hit a few parks today. I ended up with 7 wheats, 1 KG6, a '56 Canadian nic, a '37 Merc, an interesting "Crowell Apprentice" pin and 3 Injuns - an 1883, 1907 (both toasted) and a very nice 1865 - made my day! Mainly ran my combined (ferrous-coin) mode all day until the end and then switched over to multi-tone. The last 2 Indians were very tough signals, just little "thunks" with good numbers, 6-7 inches deep, probably sitting on edge.

That's a nice, well-rounded, bunch of finds. The one IH looks great. How's the grouse season looking? I have some friends in Minnesota and I try to get over that way to shoot a few every now and then.

We're supposed to be at a cycle high - but it seems that everywhere I go lately they are very hard to find and don't sit still very long when you do find 'em! HH

Great lookin Indian !

You got some very nice finds there good for you

Doc that's a great looking fatty coming out of the ground that copper nickel mix don't like dirt at all .What kind of soil was it in . WTG sube

The park is mostly that black, silty soil with some gravel mixed in. Some spots in the park chew up the Injuns and other parts do not - must be pockets that stay wetter than others.
