Fairgrounds coins

Went to fairground in southern ohio and found some coins in the sheep areas. Some of them were a red tinted. What would make them red? I found two pennies that were about 1/4 eaten away, they were a 2000 and a 1996. Must be some pretty serious ground around here. Better not go barefooted around there.

I have no idea why they change colors like that. the half eaten pennies are from 1984 ( i think) and newer. They made them to be biodegradable for some eviormental reasons. I wish they hadnt. I hate finding pieces of pennies. Once I found a whole pocket spill of them. HH

When eventually they will move to plastic coins MDing hobby will die completely. It is already half dead in this country. For how long a person will be happy and excited to collect 70 cents per hour of hunt on average I wonder?
