Fairgrounds Barber Quarter / Outstanding 1930s Saddle Bronc Rider Pin / Old Nickels And Other Silver

Most of the finds shown are from hitting it hard toward the end of last week. Temps were 26-38 degrees with a brutal 20-25 mph wind all weekend. There was no snow though and the ground was still soft.
All finds are from public sites with my Minelab eTrac metal detector.
My favorite find was that saddle bronc rider pin. It is a 1930s "Hickock" brand tie clip pin. It was about 6 inches deep and read like an Indian penny. I had found a 1912 dime, a 1904 Indian head and that sterling ring in the same
area so I thought it was going to be another Indian head penny. The silver heart locket was also unexpected as I thought It would be a wheat penny.

The 1897 Quarter was pulled from a Minnesota Fairgrounds and was right next to multiple nails and surrounded by junk.
The wind was beating me up by the end of the weekend but the exercise and some of the finds still made it fun.

That pendant which appears to be a plated gold nugget was found at an old school the weekend before. It read similar to a wheat penny.

Thanks for taking a look!
Dave

FPD,
Even thought it was freezing cold out you my friend were burning up the landscape 🤣

congrats on beautiful pile of finds and I can’t wait to see your “bank vault” total 💰for 2020

Nice finds Dave we had our first snow put a damper on detecting for a bit ..Too bad that 1937 buffalo was not a D standing on three legs!

I would still be out there, thats some really nice pull outs!!!

Those are fabulous finds. I wouldn't even want to say which one is "best" -- each one is unique and it would make a great day in detecting. Well done!

My goodness that is a lot of really nice coins. Congratulations.

I appreciate everyone's interest and responses in seeing what I pulled out of the ground!
The ground is finally froze up around here but it has been a good long year with hardly any snow.
Right around the end of the year/Jan 1st, I will be doing a wrap up post with all my totals for 2020.

We had some old fairgrounds around home for a while. I went detecting out there a couple of times on some short hunts. Hunted a lot in the parking areas ,, found mostly pennies ,, really hard digging,,, couldn't hardly get more than a couple inches ,, and targets galore. Never got to hunt it to much ,, now its been built over,,, I just knew there was good stuff out there ,, just couldn't get the time I needed to hunt it.
Really nice stuff you've got there ,, when the ground thaws ,, I'm sure you'll be posting more treasures. Will be anxiously waiting,, :)
