Faint High Tone Coin Sounds on F5 ??

One thing I'm not liking about the F5 is it seems to really like rusty iron. I'm trying to figure out how to get around this, but rusty iron typically sounds off with a nice high tone coin sound, so I did it.

I do notice in some sites I get these very faint, blip like high tone coin sounds, and have thus far figured their probably iron. Anyone played around with these ??

Sounds like the same thing we are noticing on the F70 too. Check out the F70 post about the same sounds. I am sure we can put a definite handle on the sound with a bunch of folks being aware of it.

I believe the F5 and F70 are more similar then people know (a Fisher engineer on the project stated they shared the same software), so I wouldn't be surprised if they hold the same solution.

one thing I noticed on the silver bracelet I found with F5 (see doesnt anybody like to show their finds post) it hit with just the faintest sound but consistently
id'd @ 85. this was in damp edge of river soil and measured 11" depth. another thing when right over target and pump coil the iron level bars consistently read 2 segments lower than surrounding area. I have only had machine 2 weeks but already, I have learned to pump coil over iffy target and so far if not junk iron bars will drop from surrounding area readings, any body else notice that?

That's good info on the iron and pumping the coil, I'll definitely try it next time out, there has to be a way for us to disc out rusty iron (it sounds so sweet when it hits too).

11"in depth, wow that 's terrific :clapping: I'll check out your post to see what treasure your recovered.

Some body, on another forum, said the halo trail from rusty iron can be broken-up be stomping the soil. You might want to try breaking the halo trail by disturbing the soil with your digging tool, without digging a plug. Then sweep coil again to see if signal remains.

Thanks for info.. I have an F5. It seems to me that we may have to develop a new technique of hunting using these detectors. They are not as the old familiar detectors have been. They seem to hunt just that different, that they are confusing. With more using them, more tips should be coming in and helping to become more familiar.(I hope)....Z
