Factory Recalls

As a general question I just wondered if Garrett or other detector companies ever have recalls on detectors during the warranty period? Obviously it is common in the auto industry, but most of those are due to safety issues. I have a new AT Pro and although due to weather I have only used it three times, I think it is a great detector. Without going into great detail and rehashing all of them I am experiencing some of the same issues that have been mentioned on this forum. I guess what I am asking is that if Garrett decides that they have a cure for some of these problems will they bring it forward and offer a correction to all owners who are experiencing problems. Please be aware that in no way am I bad mouthing my AT Pro. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone. I just think it has some very minor quirks that might be improved. I think Garrett did a great job with a brand new machine and that it will only get better and even more popular.

Oh yes, there have been some, Fisher had some while back, Troy Shadow had some, there's been some others but can't recall names, I don't think Garrett has had any , at least that is to MY memory:garrett:

If there are issues , I think that many of them are passed off as being considered "normal " .... that a lot of users are use to ....... They have just become accustomed to dealing with issues that they have been told " that's just the way the machine works " .......Jim

There were a few models from various brands that had weaknesses and were corrected. I am not sure about any manufacturer reporting an official recall. For example, the 1st version of the CZ6 (revamped to the CZ6a) and the 1265x (plastic coil connector) both had coil problems and possibly headphone jack issues. Fisher corrected the problems and both these models are still popular. Once a models' problem is known, the manufacturer needs to do its part and make revisions ASAP. Hopefully Garrett will perfect the new coil design (or whatever is causing all the falsing noise). Their has been homemade mods done to the At-Pro shaft and headphone jack, these are issues that also need to be addressed. I am sure that some new detector users would be willing to pay a little more for a corrected At-Pro. Just my thoughts, Thanks

Yeah I've been field testing their stuff for 16 years and I don't recall any. If they have isolated cases they quickly correct them. When the GTI's first came out they had a few problems with the new imaging coil but it was quickly corrected and all who had a bad one got a new one. They take excellent care of their customers. Best in the business.
