I would like to know what I am missing out on between factory presets and advanced modes. I was finding more and deeper targets in factory presets.I am slow with computers,I have been reading posts on findmall.com for 9 months and learned alot, thanks to everyone.

If you like the presets go with them. There is nothing wrong with them. Tweaking the machine can get overwhelming even to an experianced user. Just go slow ,take your time and enjoy. if you can go out with someone. It's alot easer to learn first hand. Post where you live, if your close to somone they will let you know.

I live in Shreve Ohio,3 miles from where treasure week is held every year.I am just learning this computer and the explorer xs.I have owned an xlt,1280x,and several garrets.I now own an xs and troy shadow.I would like to get a cz20,but I am on a fixed income, dissabilty. Will the xs be safe for shallow water hunting? Do I have to be careful or is there some things I should do to protect the xs from water?

I'd be really careful about using any fixed housing detector in shallow water. That's one of the reasons why I kept my Sov as it's hipmountable.
You'd have to stay in ankle deep water to be safe ... even at thigh depth the waves would be dangerous in most bodies of water.
If you do use it I'd be careful when I carried the detector out of the water as if you raise the coil above the housing water can run within the shaft and get to the control box. Also you might want to consider the Birch Engrg hip-mount as it could only help.
Recommend a water machine if you do much water hunting ... it'll be a lot less stressful.

Birch Eng. makes it. It is well made and makes the explorer light as a feather.

I would get the hipmount. Dave told me you can order the length of cable extension you need. I plan on getting one and put the Explorer top section in a heavy plastic bag sealed as tight as I can at the top and put it in a backpack. So wading to waist deep won't hurt anything unless you fall.

Kellyco has a tube/clamp to waterproof the cable extension where it attaches.

Be sure that you use shrink wrap or something around the conector berween the extension cord and the coil cord. Getting water in the conectors will cause the machine to become extreamily erradic.(experiance talking) Just remember if you fall.....
