Factory Part Mod if Advantageous?

This is not a custom mod, but simply switching my 9x8 spider coil on my Umax for the 5 something inch Tesoro concentric coil is on my mind. The reason is what I'm reading here about it being an advantage for tot lots, fences, and trashy areas, then putting the 9x8 back on for larger and cleaner places. Being on a fixed income, every expenditure I make means researching before just jumping in and regretting not "looking before the leap". With all the knowledge available on these forums I thought I'd ask for some feedback. Thanx.

You just want to insure that the coils are made for the same frequency and have the same pin configuration. If Tesoro states the 5 something coil will work for the Umax, then all should be good. I know a smaller coil on my MXT (the 5.3) and turning my gain down really helps me next to fences and playground equipment.

Tesoro has coils to fit the newer and older detectors.
You basically need only two, the stock 9x8 and the 5.75 concentric, if you want a third the 7" concentric.

Tesoro coils for the umax detectors will work with all the frequencies, they are not frequency specific like other brands. They are all 4 pin.
