Factory 5 Preset Modes

Follow-up question to the preset modes.

In the CTX 3030 Handbook, Andy mentions there were some issues with the preset modes as written. He suggested the modes could be tweaked with the XChange2 software. Went into XChange2 and found the preset modes. I see that I can tweak each mode as suggested and per the examples provided in the Handbook.

So my question is, after I make a change to one of the modes, is there a "save as" option? I don't want want to "save" and lose the original version of the mode in case I want to go back to it.

create a new folder, copy the original to it, change the name so you know its modified, modify it, then move it to the detector. Everything xchange does is to copy items, it doesnt remove them from location1 when you move them to location2

You can actually go into Xchange2 without your detector hooked up, create that same mode exactly like the
factory mode, add your changes to it and name it what you want. Then hook up and download it to your detector.

If I understand correctly, I have to create/duplicate the mode from scratch. Is it possible to make the changes in the mode already in the XChange2 program then "save as" a new mode. Or in the alternative, can I do a "select all", copy and paste, then make changes then save as a new mode.

I guess what I'm asking is does the XChange2 software act as other software in regards to cut and paste, then "save as"?

why don't you download the xchange software and play with it? You'll see what we are saying, and without the detector being connected, you can't screw anything up.

Listen to Jason on this. Those preset modes are already on exchange2. You can go into exchange 2 and change what you want
about the modes without the detector hooked up, BUT RE-NAME THE PROGRAM YOU """"CREATE""""" IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE
ORIGINAL IN YOUR EXCHANGE 2 AND ON YOUR MACHINE. In other words, it is a simple thing to re-create the same mode in xchange2
and do the changes to that program you want to and save it as " name " as a different hunting mode. That way you will have the original and
the new one you created. If after using it you tweak it out in the field, come back home, go into that same mode you created, make the changes
you need to match the changes you made in the field and SAVE those changes on exchange2

I was playing around in the XChange2 program and somehow, I was able to delete everything. Including the 5 preset modes. So, I connected the 3030 to my computer and copied the 5 preset modes back into the XChange2 program. Problem solved. Woo Hoo!!! A lesson learned.

See, easy-peasy. No matter how bad you screw up the settings, you can always do a master reset on the detector and you have the preset programs back again.

Jason and I are telling you 2 different ways to do what you want to do. I think mine
takes a little longer. Jason's is I'm sure quicker if you are good with a computer mind wise.
I am not. I just turned on my ctx and put it beside me where I could see the coin mode that
was stock. I went in and created and named a new mode (from the top menu). After I named
it COIN MODE II I used the 4 block icon, disked the entire screen, and then chose the 2 block
(open) mode and opened the 10-11-12-13-14 line all the way across. I then looked at some of
Andy's from his book and read why some of his areas were more open than others and why and
asked myself, am I going to expect to find that here where I am and if so, I would open that area
just as Andy did. Basically I created his program and closed or disked some of the areas I was
sure I would not be finding anything of that nature around where I live and hunt. After all, when
you do this if you have a question about your choice you can make and save on the spot changes
and if you like those changes come home and change them on your laptop to match what worked
for you in the field.
