F75 vs SOVEREIGN GT

I was just wondering if anybody had compared the two side by side. I have the F75, but was also looking at the sovereign for salty beach areas.
I have a chance to get a good deal on a sovereign. I have not tried my F75 at a salty beach though.
Thanks.

First off, I've never had a GT so can't compare. As many know, I am a strong advocate of the F 75 and have had the occasion to use it on salt water beaches and know it does work. Having said that, from what I have heard and read, I get the sense the GT is a pretty strong beach machine as well as good on land. If I could pick one up at a good price, I certainly would. MHO. F75 will work on a salt water beach.......but in all honesty the GT will work better...I have used both. The F75 is not a normal salt beach recommended machine.
Having said that, you will find items in the dry sand areas with no problems with the F75..you will find items in the dry to wet transition areas with the Gt..So if you want salt water hunting go with the GT for best results. If your just going casual hunting the F75 will suffice. Turn sens way down in wet sand areas..if you use the F75.

the F75 will kick its butt in the dry sand....but the Sov will do better in the wet. The F75 WILL hunt there...but the SOV will be more stable and deep. The Sov will also wear your arm out...and eat more batteries.......but it IS a very good wet salt beach machine. gotta give credit where credit is due......... Streak!

In as much as i love the F75 . I have to give the Wet Beach work to the Sovereign hands down. No if or buts.

Nothing will compare to a multifreq machine at a wet salt water beach. A CZ will also outperform the F75 at the beach as well, just the nature of the beast.

The Sov shouldn't wear out your arm if you have it setup right. I've beach hunted for hours on end using the 12.5" Sunray coil with the Sov and no problems (plus at the beach you tend to scrub the ground, which relieves some of hte weight from your arm). Perhaps using the WOT or a larger coil may be a different story (swingy thingy then). Actually even on turf I've never had issues with weight (although it's certainly not light weight like the lightweight F75/F70/F5/F4/F2.

in the wet sand, it won't goes as DEEP as the GT. I have four differant coils for mine and they all do good. The F-75 might do better in the dry sand, I didn't try it there. I know you will cover more ground with the F-75.

I don't know about the gt,but the cz-3d will leave the f75 in its tracks on the beach, and on land the cz-3d is also better as i have seen both work side by side in my opinion. The 75 has more options than the 3d if you think you need them.

I have used the F75 on the beach in the water and on dry land, It blew my friends Sov away in all cases. I got a good 10" signal in the water line and he could not detect it at all. It was a crustily nickel but it was there. The Sov would constantly give a signal on a wet hole with nothing present in the hole but water. I also had a CZ-3D it was a nice detector for yards and coin hunting but the F75 depth is much better especially for relics. When I first got my F75 I compaired it to all my detectors and it was deeper in the ground testing with long ago buried coins then any detector I have except one the Fisher 1266X with the 10.5 coil,It would beat the F75 by about 5" in depth. And yes I still use the 1266X but its not much good in trashy areas.

The Sovereign GT is slower to get the most out of it and a F75 would hunt about 2 to 3 times faster at max depth.

(All BBS and FBS machines need a slow sweep speed to get max depth.)

WOW is this true?, "I have except one the Fisher 1266X with the 10.5 coil,It would beat the F75 by about 5" in depth."

Was it a salt water beach or a fresh water beach? What coils were both machines using ?

Hard to believe, either there was something wrong with the Sov or it was setup incorrectly.

The GT is the poor man's Excalibur (both utilize 17 frequencies) AND it can be hip/chest mounted further protecting it from the water elements AND it can take SEF coils and from what I have read it really makes it it a potent beach machine.

Even though I have never run the F75 I have to agree with Jeb on that one. The F75 goes deep, has lightning fast recovery speed and great trash separation qualities.
