Hi F75 users, Is the F75 not the Se or LTD, just the F75 any deeper than other detectors? Is any of the top detectors like the F70, CZ70 PRO, MXT, T2 reg. just as deep as the F75 with out the boost mode? I think that is what i am trying to ask. Thanks for any help, Flintstone

Not a F75 user, and the only one of the machines you listed that I have had is the F70. I believe - coil for coil - it would be nearly a tie berween the F75, T2, and F70 until you kicked in the F70's SL speed (similar to the boost process on the F75Ltd/SE and the T2Ltd), which would then give the F70 an edge on depth. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon to refute or verify that as well as give their input on the other detectors mentioned.

The boost mode on the F75 (and T2) increases in-ground depth a little, but the place where boost has a huge depth advantage is when you are detecting in tall grass or anywhere there is a significant gap between the coil and the ground.

In boost mode, you can swing your coil several inches above the ground and only lose a fraction of that in actual ground depth.

T2 and F75 were both designed by the same designer way before the MXT so should have better performance. I got rid of the MXT directly the teething problems of the T2 and F75 were sorted out though they still are rather fragile compared to say a metal boxed Whites.
I ran these to together and in the end kept the T2 but ONLY for the wider low range of discrimination needed in Europe. T2 = F75 in DE mode but the F75's high gain JE mode can add another two inches again.
Before I forget... both these detectors DO have a boost that kicks in at various levels of discrimination. PM me if you need the details as it varies not just between machines but also according to age.

Don't forget that when the initial Blisstool field tests were carried out in a difficult red clay area of the States someone had brought along a F75 that no one in the group had used before, so the settings may well have not been optimised and the F75 found all but one of the targets. Pretty good against what is considered a deep machine. I think you would be happy with the Fisher and its weight/balance makes all day detecting a pleasure.

Thanks All who replied. I have been looking at the Fishers and the T2, just don,t know if the boost mode would make much defiance. Thanks again Flintstone

One thing I should have mentioned. Quite a few people who upgraded to the boosted models having really liked the originals found out that they were not quite so happy with the "improved" detectors. This happened with the old best seller in the U.K., the Arado 120b. The 130 that followed was deeper as claimed but the discrimination didn't keep up so it was noisier and you ended up digging much more iron.

I can't say you for sure need one with the boost mode, but I did.

I started off with a F75Ltd/SE with the boost mode, then I thought I wanted to try some other machines and I did. Then I really started to miss my Ltd and started looking for a good deal on a used one. So one day a std F75 came up for sale and I jumped on it thinking I wouldn't miss the boost mode. I hunted with the std F75 and was doing pretty good but something was missing. So I sold the std F75 along with my F5 and bought a new Ltd/se.

It seems to me that the difference in the std and the Ltd/se is they add a couple of extra modes of operation. So if I want to hunt fast I use the DE mode and take advantage of the fast sweep speed and if I want slow down I can put it in boost and reduce my sweep speed and still get good depth. One thing kind of nice about the Ltd/se is if you are hunting in the boost mode and want to check a target in the DE mode you can just push and hold the menu button and as long as you hold the button in it will operate in the DE mode and when you let up on the button and you will be back in the boost mode.

Jump in and start swinging.

Thanks Ron, that is about what i was looking for, i just didn,t know what the ltd or se did that the reg F75 couldn,t. Thanks Flintstone

I had one of the 1st F-70's when they 1st came out and to be honest, I have had both the F-75LTD and the T-2 LTD and I think the F-70 in SL mode is just as hot as ether of the "Boost" models the FT has out now. I was relic hunting a CW camp with the F-70, 11" coil in 8" tall grass and got a strong hit, dug down 9" and found a .
.69 drop 3 ringer. That means that from the coil to that target was 17"!!! I should of kept that F-70 but I traded it for the F-75 LTD because of the "Boost Process" mode. I have a new F70 now and it seems to be just as hot as the 2006 model.............Mark

Glad I could help,

Good luck with you selection, and be sure to let us know what you settle on.
