F75 Upgrade Update

Talked to Juan at Fisher before lunch today about am mode depth, he said minimum depth in am on a nickel 13-13 1/2''. He thinks my circuit board is not taking all the upgrades from new software. Will probably need to change circuit board to the one's in new factory units. Anybody having these same issues should contact him about there am depth issues. Nice to get ahold of someone with some answers. Already have my return label to send back. For now

I have to try mine in AM this weekend (Jan 15 Upgrade). I very seldom hunt in AM mode but is the soil is odd I do like to manually balance there and switch back to DISC.

Mine appears to have come back with a totally new grip and display head (w/smaller trigger). Hopefully that means the board(s) were the latest.

13" - 13.5" I am getting 15" on a nickel so I am going to say I am good to go hunting as soon as the weather gets better and I get this cast off my wrist.

Thanks for the update,

Ron in WV

I wunder if they EVER thought about checking the unit WHEN they do the upgrade---they could save themselves a lot of postage?? NaaaaaaaaaH.

And it goes on&on&on---one guy at FT says 13" on a nickel in AM would be MINIMUM---and another sends an Email saying 11" on a nickel in AM "would be fine".Is there any type of coordination or interaction within FT ??????????

So..... are you testing in 9.0 or 9.1
JumpiNg over to all metal BP or Cl process
Got to find me a nickle.
Last time I tried this I used a quarter and got 14 in 9.1.
I saw you had your unit for sale and suddenly cancelled.

Mike Scott says 11" is good, Juan says 13", that's an 18% difference! and I know I'd pay serious attention if someone started saying my particular detector was 2" or 18% inferior...Juan's statement says to me that they need to actually test/tune/fix whatever, the unit so that it achieves that 13" figure (or better) prior to shipping it out....also I think Mike and Juan should get together and talk so that they both provide consistent information....If I knew that others were getting 2" more depth on their G2 than I was I'd certainly be upset about it....

I just did an air test in AM and get over 14" in a Nickel with the 6.5" Concentric Elliptical coil! I'm gold (Jan'15 $309 upgrade on a 2007 F-75). Threshold carefully set, send 98 and 90 GB. Quarter not appreciably better. At 15" I'd probably still dig but not solid in both directions. This was my favorite coil and looks like it still will be.

13" in DISC - still outstanding for a coin shooting coil.

One concern is my Sunray FX-1 probe blasts my ears when I switch to probe and is way jittery. Like the detector used to be indoors. I hope this is better in real outdoor conditions.

Charlie P sounds like you have a "good" upgrade and that is great--nothing worse than taking a good machine and it comes back less than before. This seems to be the problem: Some upgrade good and some upgrade bad,so the question is"what's a Mother to do"?? If FT would establish an acceptable standard, have coordinate 101 classes with mandatory attendence, and CHECK the units BEFORE returning them, they could save more on postage than it would cost to make these basic changes. Is it going to happen-----probably not.

From what I can tell mine was a "good one" right from the start in 2007. The F-75 had only been available six months when I ordered mine. Chattery but VERY sensitive.

I don't know how they operate their shop but I imagine they have some kind of a test set-up. How they set the pass/fail parameters will make a difference it what goes out the door. I'd bet $20 they have nothing like an "air-test" with a coin on a stick. They probably make sure it transmits and make sure the receiver circuit is tuned.

I agonized over sending mine back - dropping $309 for something worse would have had me hopping mad.

Are you guys using headphones when testing?

My new T2 LTD 99 sens. All metal gets 15"-16" on a nickle 11" DD coil ....99 sens. 0 Disc.BP Mode gets 14"-15" on a nickle that`s 12-14 Date/software.
My new F-75 LTD had the 11-14 Date/software...and the mamma bug got only around 11" in Disc.or All Metal on a nickle...very disappointing.
The F-75 LTD is at First Texas to be swapped out for a "new one"....just hope ......"The New F75 " comes back as hot as the T2.
