Run parallel grid lines north and south then go east and west. That coil design will pull targets out of the ground. I look at the bar that goes up the center of the coil and use this to measure my sweep angle.

I don't understand. Could you help clue me into what you mean?

I hear the target better when the coil passes over the target sweeping from from right to left. Its like the coil has dual, horizontal antennas built in. Confused, sorry.:drinking:
 
Hi George......

The effect you are experiencing usually means there is possibly something ferrous very close to target (below?)

Another cause could be an 'iron loop' target, laying in a vertical position (Positive VDI but low confidence indicator)...........MattR.UK.
