F75, small coil and silver

Well-known member
I have been hunting some very trashy sites using the small coil quite a bit and it really does the job. I had a 3 silver morning, this morning, my second 3 silver day in the last two weeks, using the small coil. All 3 silvers were dimes, 2 Mercs. and a Rosie. Besides the site being trashy and also about 25 year's removed from being "virgin", our ground here in W Tn is becoming dry as a bone. In order to dig, I had to seek out low spots where the grass/weeds was thicker and less baked by the sun. None of the dimes were deep, 4-7", but vdi readings (75-80) were more bouncy then usual. The 80 reading was on the 7" deep dime. Since our ground has become so dry, I've dug a couple of other 78-80 readings that turned out to be silver dimes. I've not dug a silver quarter for a month or so, but clad quarters read 80-83, depending on the depth. What do you guys think, dry ground??? HH jim tn

Even when ground is near perfect it has higher readings that jump around more.. I think it's hitting more little items that we just don't see with the big coil.

Elton, thanks, that is what I was kind of thinking as well. I've dug several silvers with the small coil, but it just seems like as of late the readings had become a little more bouncy. It is not a problem, as I dig those kind of numbers when ever I get them. take care, HH jim tn

Nice work fishing that silver out from amongst the junk Jim:thumbup:

Congrats on the silver Jim. I am still looking for my first silver coin with the 75. It'll come to me, just dont know when lol. TMAN...

I need to get out of the water and back on the dirt for a silver fix.
