F75 & Silver Coins

Has anyone had much success with the F75 and finding silver - especially in more trashy areas? Someone mentioned somewhere (I think) that because the F75 operates at a higher frequency, it's more tuned to metals like copper, brass, and gold and doesn't smell silver as well.

Check out thomas dankowskis site..from what i have read the F75 hits Hard on silver with both coils..john s and several others have had great luck.I know it loves nickels and dimes..pretty awesome machine..

Found a few hammered silver coins romans and some later milled the 2 cut 1/4 hammered silver banged right out and they are very small, don't think it gets much better then that...Good Hunting Geo

Thanks for the help guys - good to know it hits the silver as hard as any other metal. Guess I must just be having bad luck :)

"Success" is a relative term, but from trashy sites, which is mainly what I hunt, the F75 has sniffed out for me, nearly 60 silver coins plus varoius other silver items over the last 81/2 months. Although I do occasionally dig some small pieces of copper and brass, silver seems to id more consistently. Whether the F75 actually likes silver better then some other detectors, I can't honestly say. I do know, though, it is in its element in the trash. And, that is where most silver is. HH jim tn

Hi there! Just to add my penny's worth, and in confirmation of the other postings.

Th F75 at 13 KHz has NO problems finding silver coins generally.

I have recorded finding an English silver shilling (1920s) at a depth of 10 inches, and recovering it from beneath

the roots of a tree which had overgrown it. The Visual and audio hit on this target was brilliant.

I knew I was digging for a silver coin, for the TID was in the 80's and SO consistent.

Your comparable silver dollar should be recoverable at depths of 12 inches and more.

If you want just silver from amongst the trash, then pump your disc up as high as it will go.

IF IT's THERE and within 7 to 10 inches (size dependant), then you will find it.

DON'T have your sens above 60 if the trash is really heavy, and only increase it if you think it's not going to cause you ear-ache.

p.s. Take note of Mike Hillis's comment in the lower post regarding the audio tones. . In this instance, try 1F.....or 2

I was in the gold country of Calif and we fould a lot of brass and copper on most of the silver coins I did have a bit of trouble. My machine was not locking on the target, the target was iffy but I would see flashes of 85 so I dug and out came a half dime from the 1830s. The dime looked almost new. I had other hits in the same area where it was clean... for the most part silver comes out with a nice reading and tone. So I think it all depends on the user but for the most part the F75 hits silver as good as the best out there.

Silver is the "low hanging fruit" of the detectable targets world. It is the most conductive and ALL detectors worth a spit should hit silver.

It's the small, deep 3

yes!..believe it!..as you have proven, there is STILL a ton of silver still hiding in the trash!..a lot of it HAS been walked over!..this "new" generation of detectors
are opening up the "crap" areas, and making the hobby fun again!..the f2..f4..f5..f70,and the f75 all share the same "nano separation" circuits, and the little f2
has the ability to change the face of the hobby!..for $199.00!

JE notch1 disc 4-6 monotone or 2f sens at max most of the time as the ground fastgrabbed 50-60 at the max 21 seemed to be coke but you want to start listening carefully.....I wasted valuable time fooling around with more tones might rachet up the freq to 7 the relic hunters here seem to feel it is better I did not try that but will...Geo
