It was 60's yesterday in New England, & now that our soils finally diggable, I snuck out of work early to get some more time in all metal mode on the new Fisher F75 in prep for the DIV Civil War hunt.
I was able to re-get a permission in a "hunted out" Revolutionary War Camp. This sites been hammered for 30 years, but with some effort & powerful unit, & diggin "iffy" targets, things can still come up. Everything left is 8"+ deep, & 1 musketball is considered an achievement now....
I manually ground balanced in @ around 65...typical for my area. Was able to crank sensitivity up into the mid-80's with NO chatter at all. I even saw powerlines nearby so the stability issues with early T2's has definately been corrected. I could have, & should have run sensitivity even higher. I hunted till dark & got into some deep musketballs & a period pewter button...I learned that the new F75 in all metal just gives a weak wisper on these deepies missed by all other detectors before. BUT better still, the F75 was IDing correctly @ 8 inches or more...

As I was ready to leave...another little wisper from the depths showhing 20-22 was "iffy" but I dug. I think I'm glad I did as a brass decorated ring came out...The patina looks early, & the ring size is very large so it don't look like a girls junk ring. Any thoughts on if it could be Rev War period? May have had a stone at one time....

This close up shows like hand made dot patterns we see on those large 1700 period coat buttons....makes me think it's not newer, but could be Victorian? I'd love to lean toward it being a soldier's ring though...

Anyhow, it was a good all metal DIV tune up with the F75 detector before I hit the road down to Virginia today...
(But I should have been packing instead of hunting!)
Thanks for looking,
Bill
