F75 Problem-Advice.

Hi Guys,

I went to a dig a few days ago and gave up with my F75 as it would not stop giving of morse code and a variation of numbers jumping on the screen.

As luck would have it I have the small elliptical coil and just fitted that one and have no trouble at all.

I reverted to the stock coil and away the detector went on a nervous stutter even though it will still detect a sample coin and pinpoint it.

Has anyone out there experienced this problem before I sent the coil to the repair centre.

Thanks,Jerry.

I had the same problem and it didn't matter how low the sens was or where I set the discrimination. I assumed it was because the old house I wanted to hunt was near a traffic light and the problem stopped when I moved on. I'll have to go back with the small coil.

Thanks Crosby,

Mine has been fine until very recently and I was taken by surprise as with yourself my first thoughts were outside interference,

That could not be the case as the small coil is perfect on the same detecting area.

The answer may be to attach the problem coil to another F75 for a test.Jerry.

Some times the machine can get into a tizzy, especally if you are messing around with the notches. Try the factory re-boot and see if that helps. If not, then try another coil to see if that helps. Turning the sens way down may help if there is electrical interference in the immediate area.

thats the FIRST thing I recommend to do....everything else being equal. Do a reboot.and see how its acts with the factory defaults. Then you can slowly start tweaking it to suit your needs.
It doesnt help to check your coil connections either... and make sure your coil wire is wrapped properly too. Start with the basics.and work your way up. Streak!

where I will have to do a reboot to settle it down......but its very rare. if you have it in an area where its littered with small low conductive targets...it will sound like a machine gun as well. I have one or two sites like this........and they arent usually worth hunting, as the "headache " factor isnt worth the meager finds. All in all though...most sites are vastly different, and the 75 handles them very very well.

Im still new to th f75. I have maybe 4 hours in on it total. Thanks to this forum i went from to confuesd to being able to make some finds in a heavy trash area. I have multiple places i can go to try it out. I hope to find one where i can open the machine up a little to see what it can do. Right not i have to notch and discrim heavy as every swing is hitting. What amazed and sold me was that i had a doubble signal close together"dime and penny" 6in down there was a 52 dime and a zinc penny

EZ Rider..it only gets better..it will id targets swithin 1" or closer..with both coils..

Thanks for your various thoughts on this problem and for the pm that I have mislayed from one of you suggesting trying another loop.

I used the detector today with the small elliptical coil and it was perfect and this weekend we will try the larger stock loop from another F75.

Thanks again for your help.:clapping:Jerry.

Soon after receiving my new F-75, I experienced the dreaded erratic behavior. Can't say for sure but I'm thinking turning the power up in the house may have had something to do with it. After giving it a chance to take a time out, and changing coils back and forth, it settled right down and I've had no problem since. The F-75 is a brute but it also has its sensitive side.

Ron

I may have solved the problem ?.

While I used the small elliptical coil yesterday I left the large stock loop by the radiator and also its plug fitting.

I re-fitted it this afternoon and hey presto its working fine.

The last time that I used it prior to the problem we had a hail storm and I now wonder if the water got into the wiring???Jerry.
