F75 Preset

Has anyone noticed if you make a change from the preset the F75 gets noisy? On mine it can be any change: tone, sensitivity(up or down), GB, desc etc. Then the only way I can get it quite is to do a reset. Adding +2 or +3 to the GB doesn't help. The noise is from the ground sounds like popcorn with the display numbers jumping.

but....having said that, there are some areas where I can ONLY hunt in presets, or close to that. De IS pretty tame, but if you lower your disc to below 6, or above 20, its pretty much like hunting in Je mode, and it IS sensitive!
Try this: Put the machine in DE, set the disc to 6, use two tones, and make sure you fast grab it over a clean piece of ground. unless your in crappy ground, or you are near to a very bad interference source, it should run "almost" dead quiet, even with sens high. Make sure the coil connector is TIGHT, as if its even a little bit loose, it wont Gb right, and WILL be noisey. in most of My areas, I'm able to run JE, 6 on the disc, and 90 on the sens. Occasionally I'll have to detune a bit to match conditions, but not often. Problem with soliciting advice on a forum like this is, very few of us here hunt the same ground, and what works for ME might not for YOU, but the general guidelines will stay the same. For instance if I'm hunting in an area where the bulk of the targets are shallow, and its a bit trashy, there is no need for high gain, as it will only make the machine perform worse. I'll opt for De, and a tame Sensitivity setting, and let the fast recovery speed of the 75 work for me. If its a wide open farm field, with deep and sparse targets, it gets run as hot as I can run it. Acually, I've found that motion all metal is great for fields, as it is very quiet and doesnt miss much. You'll have to crank the all metal sens to match the depth of the disc mode though.
The gist of it is, make sure everything is ok with the machine first (batts, connectors, etc...), and than choose the settings that will taylor the machine to YOUR conditions. BUT, be forewarned. The 75 is NOT a "quiet" machine. Even on the best of sites it tends to be a bit talkative. Its sensitivity makes it let you know pretty much everything thats below the coil. If you want a dead quiet machine that only beeps on the shallow to mid depth easy to dig targets, get yourself an IDX pro or something. Hope this halps. Streak!
