F75 or AT PRO

This will be interesting and really want to see some realistic comments. Have been looking hard at the AT Pro, but a lot of the review sites aren't showing it as being rated all that high, which is keeping me from pulling the trigger on one. One site with 78 reviews showed the AT Pro with a lower rating then the Ace 350 ... that concerns me some with the huge difference in purchase price. Maybe the AT Pro didn't dig the target for the purchaser?

yea with all the high tech stuff maby he thought he could sit back and sip ice tea and it would pop the coins right in his lap

I don,t have a pro or F75, but i thank that the selling point of the AT PRO, is that it is water proof to 10 ft. It looks just like the ACE 250 or 350, that is not a bad thing because the ACE is a very good detector for the price. Hope someone lets us know about them. Flintstone

The F75 is a more expensive machine than the AT Pro. I own an AT Pro and a F70 with the F75 coil.
If you are a serious relic hunter get the F75; it will work good for coins too. There are a number of good
coins machines. I'm a coin hunter. I have an F5, Omega and AT Pro I'm not sure which I like best. There
are other good coin machines. I believe the AT Pro is a relic machine but I have not used it in the fields
or woods.

Have the AT Pro and an F5. Both are great coin machines. AT Pro is a little deeper on coins for me, but both will go 8" easily if you learn your machine.

An F70 with the 11"dd coil and an ATPro...very complementary machines, use the same batteries, the F's have a threshhold adjustment as well as more tone choices, the ATP is waterproof..both have their place to round out an arsenal depending on the weather, location etc. That being said, I've 1000's of hours on the F70 and it is my main rig. The ATP is coming along nicely though.

It will depend on what you are needing out of the machine.
If waterproof is a requirement then the AT Pro is it no bones about it.

But...for straight relic hunting I never did see the depth with the AT Pro people made claims of getting. Now I have some pretty mineralized soil in Maine so maybe down south the Pro gets better depth. Some machines lose a bit more depth than others when the ground gets tough. This could be the case.

I tested the AT Pro side by side with F-70 and the F-70 was clearly deeper but more than just a bit. If the F-70 had the 11"DD coil on it and the AT Pro had the Stock large DD the 70 had almost a 2 inch advantage. I tested this in the field and in my test garden...held up.

Also the AT Pro's meter is very small and if you wear glasses you can't read the display settings without glasses...I wear glasses but not while detecting. So I could never read the settings unless I held the meter right to my face. While the F-70 has a large meter easy to view.

Now I am not saying the AT Pro is bad..it is not.....but I did not see it having any advantage over anything else in the same range accept for the waterproof thing. I think for target ID and recovery speed it is no better or worse than anything else in the same price point.
Now the F-75 is higher priced machine so you get a bit more performance from it...but honestly unless you need some of the extra settings on the F-75 the F-70 is just as deep if you know how to set one up and you use the 11" DD and ditch the 10" concentric....( the 10" is good for trash though).
So...just what I saw.....and I know several people who have the same impressions with the Pro and the 70/75....most were not impressed with the Pro depth and consider it only average. But...several of these guys kept them for specific uses...like in the rain or water......while some liked the tone options as well.

i use fisher f75 ltd and love it- I hunt with a fellow who uses an AT Pro- he said he ordered a minelab because he wasnt happy with the depth of the AP- just relaying the story. Meanwhile I, like others find the water proofing to 10 ft deep intriguing. While I said i wouldn't get another machine after the 5 i own (not counting the toyish ones), I might consider a used AT Pro . Living in a major river town, with some history, Id love to get in the water with that. If it doesn't go 10 inches deep, so what. Wading in water I wouldn't expect to be digging that deep, wouldn't want to chop my fingers up, etc. I must admit ive found some pretty old and cool coins, less than 6 inches deep on land. CO

I don't know a thing about the F75 but I own 2 AT Pros. Why? The first one had to go into the shop and I missed it so much that I bought another as a backup. However, I'm always in the water. Went to a state park last fall on the day after labor Day. There were 3 people MDing there. One had a Whites, one had a E-Trac and I had my AT Pro. They were doing the beach, I was doing ankle deep water. They were finding clad; I found a 14K gold ring.
With the AT Pro I could have been doing the beach too. So, if you're thinking of going in the water, go with the AT Pro.

I do have one complaint but I'm not sure it's the machine's fault. I have not found one piece of silver in the two years I've owned the machines. Bad luck? I don't know. I've read good things about the E-Trac being a silver hound so I may replace one of the AT Pros with an E-Trac. We'll see.

Hope this helps. PS: Garrett service is great. You talk to real people and they listen.

I used the at pro my first year at metal detecting was very happy of my finds for my first year well over 40 silver coins. Location location location . My friend has a f75 most of our hunts had same results.for the price difference and the at pro being water proof up to 10 ft very happy with my choice with the at pro.

For the money you cannot beat the AT Pro. I have used one for almost 2 years. I also own a Whites DFX, MXT a minelab CTX 3030 and an Excalibur 1000. The AT Pro is still my go to machine for kicking around parks, and sports fields. It is killer on coins and jewelry to about 5 or 6 inches. If you are looking for deeper digs then the minelab is the ticket.

In 2 years of hard use I have never had one problem with the Pro. I have at least 1000 hours or more with the machine. Learning curve is simple, results are excellent.

I sent it back to Garrett because of a scratch on the face that I caused and they repaired it gratis.

What more can I say? The build quality does not seem as good as a Whites or a Minelab but the price is also at least 30% less.

In two years of use I have found over a 100 pieces of jewelry, silver and gold. My latest finds are a mercury dime and walking liberty half dollar. Remember you coil has to go over silver and gold to be able to find it. Best find, 9.6 gram 14k gold wedding band at about 3 inches. Remember 95% of all of your finds will be less than 4".

Had the F75 LTD and the AT Pro. I still own the AT Pro. I'm not much of a relic hunter and felt the F75 was much too noisy for the places I hunt coins like schools and parks. Depth wise I got about the same out of both, but the AT Pro seemed deeper on gold.
