I went back to the old homesite that I've been going to for the last few months now. I'v been over it dozens of times and I'm basically using it as a test site to compare and decide what the capabilities of my detectors are.
I took the F75 to the park the first hunt and was pleased. Right away I felt like it would be a good coin machine and it performed well.
But, that was a new park. Nothing old or deep.
So today I wanted to see if I could find anything deep and anything left by my other detectors. I also wanted to play with the discrimination.
You may remember from my first post that I mentioned that the F75 chatters some. On reflection, I remembered that I had the Disc at the factory default of 10. Today I found that turing it up to 25 quitens it down quite a bit. If you go up to 50 it is very quite. Also, this site has quite a bit of iron, but considerably less trash.
On depth, I finally hit 3 targets, all pennies. One was a Memorial at 6". The next was a 1954 wheat at 8". The last was 1919 wheat at 9-10".
In this red clay dirt around here, anything over 6" is pushing it. The F75 sounded off loud and repeatable on both wheats. So I'm very pleased with it today. I need to find a place to hit that I can find silver. I plan on doing that next week. I had two places in line for today, but no one was there when I got there so I have to wait.
BTW, I was using the plowed field mode when I found the Wheats. A bulldozer has been clearing off the old out buildings. I don't know the technicalities of what that mode does, but I just thought I would try it. It worked!
