F75 LTD Fisher and nugget size??

grumpy

New member
I have a F75 LTD and want to try some nugget hunting. I have tested the machine on some small 1/4 in X 1/16" size and small simular size nugget with quarts and the machine is strained to pick up even the solid nugget over 4 or 5 inches away . Either Im doing something wrong or the machine is really NOT for nugget shooting. ??? Any help would be appreciated, I hate to try and talk mama into another detector :)
Thanks

Most prospectors use grams or grains to describe size of nuggets .... or like half a corn flake or a quarter of a corn flake.... MEDIUM... sized cereal... Corn Flake

is this all metal or Discriminate?......

the T2 and the F75 are world renowned for their abilities in the hands of a Savvy Bush Wacker that knows his unit well .......

that really does not sound like bad depth if it is a third of a Penny Weight ? 1/60 of a Troy ounce.....bigger the nugget or Vein the deeper it will detect .....Sounds like it may look big in a pan... but it would be a dink

to a Detecting prospector ......which do add up.... the smaller the gold ....is where higher frequency detectors 70 kHz start to show their STUFF on small gold.... the F75 at 13 kHz is a happy

median.......I like my F75 LTD and My T2SE ......Will they find Gold you bet ....just keep the focus on... you and what you got and walk over the right spot with it......they have static all metal as

well as motion all metal ....there is a difference... one you can size targets better with.... once you get it TAMED for the site and ground And develop an All metal ear.....just some thoughts...

Good Luck in the Gold Fields... leave mama at home....strike a blow for Liberty.....Aint nuthin like gold and Peace and Quiet ....... The Pursuit of Happiness.....

Happy Trails

I don't think you will pick up that size and smaller nuggets ( flakes ) deeper with any machine.
Making sure you keep the GB dead on will help, this means hunting in fixed GB not tracking
as that can tune out the very small stuff. Most people try to hunt to large an area at one time,
hunt maybe a 5x5 sq ft. area and then check/adjust the GB and then hunt a new 5x5 area the
same way ( grid the area to keep track what has been covered ). After you have covered an
area of say 50 or 100 sq. ft. put the next largest coil on you have and hunt that same area over
again. If the area is known for large nuggets you might want to use a 18" or larger coil to get
as deep as you can to see if there is anything hiding down deep. You also need to keep your
sweep speed SLOW when hunting the small stuff and use a LOW threshold , but not silent.

I kinda figured it might be computer error; Chip in the mother board above the detector not equipped to handle the situation; I will work on that experience thing and hope to gt things rolling correct; Thaks for the help

XT18000:
You don't know what you are talking about. There is no 18" coil. There is no need for a bigger coil to get more depth that would improve the detectabilty of a large nugget. There is no need to swing slow, in fact the machine likes to be swung fast. This is not a MINELAB.

There is no auto tracking ground balance. An owner uses fast grab to GB. Stop the BS!

As for depth on small nuggets, well wrong again. That makes the rest very questionable.
You are giving bad advice. There is another mode 'STAT' that is used to evaluate a large deep target.
Big and deep is no problem.
ALL METAL MODE IS KILLER.

Get the other machine. In five years it won't matter. you can always sell it used for a good price. Best performance in areas that have small gold like you are testing for would require the small coil. Practice hunting for nickles, they are like a 1/4 oz nugget. Get a roll and make a test garden and a treasure map with the depths on it. The marginal targets will be like detectable small nuggets. You have the right stuff grumpy.

Get the other machine. In five years it won't matter. you can always sell it used for a good price. Best performance in areas that have small gold like you are testing for would require the small coil. Practice hunting for nickles with the stock coil, they are like a 1/4 oz nugget. Get a roll and make a test garden and a treasure map with the depths on it. Go 1 inch to 20 inches deep in one inch increments. That takes two rolls of nickles. Keep the targets two feet apart. The marginal targets will be like detectable small nuggets. For each depth have one on its side and one on its flat. You will hit targets others cannot hear. Practice in the different modes. Work that garden at least once a week and get to know that machine in and out. Use JE in discrim and then learn AM.

JE: discrim=6 no notch, one tone sens: try max 99 and 75. keep the coil low, level and fast. Get into the habit of using fast grab and later evaluating in different modes. You are going to the Olympics! Train like a champion.

if you do get the other machine, go with the large coil if you only get one. Your time is best spent finding nuggets not pickers because they add up faster. On the benches where exposed bedrock is found is where you will be looking for small gold and dig crevaces. A good evening thing to do. Use the other machine, GB PRO DP. Use the same after the primary hunt to find the quiet ones that were missed. Or use it all the time. When you return and sell it give the money to your wife and make up the difference with gold. Keep the rest, live large.

You have the right stuff grumpy. Make the test garden and drill for the big event.
