f75 id

I have dug many of those with my F75... Come to think of it, I have dug many of those with all of the metal detectors I have used over the last 25 years...

HH Robert

I dig quite a few more nickels then I do beaver tails, but they do id quite close. HH jim tn

I notice too..the F75 reads old deep 60 style beaver tail rings what ever you call them in the coin range...Fools me every time...Once dug it id's proper but 5- 6 inches in the ground it high tones and reads dime.. Thats one of the very few complaints I have with the F75.. rating 1 to 10 being highest it's still a 11+ machine..

and you will dig more too!..what's REALLY tough is that the older beaver tails are "generally" discolored.ie: slightly tarnished and "mimic" a nickle even more closely!...ESPECIALLY at depth!...NO detector is totally immune to this,INCLUDING the f-75!

RIGHT! Past 3-4" depth is where the most problem comes in. No one wants to take a chance on passing up a Buffalo or a V. HH jim tn

yes that is so true !..if you are talkin' diggin' down to a 8 or 10 inch level, then if you are used to diggin' to that depth anyway, what does it really matter ?..you are gonna "chase" the "nickle" sounding "hit" no matter what!..dogged perseverance "wins" the day!

elton!..i only mention this in the hope that "newer" detectorists will take note of this, and "not" be concerned if deep "tails " are dug in the couse of a productive hunt!..naturally "most" us older "f**ks
know this already!

jim!..sh**s , giggles, and excersize is nice, but we are after the "old" stuff, and it's gotta be!..NO coin left behind!

I've finally figured out my machine and when I get a lock on 28 -30 it's a nickel 90% of the time. Those aren't the only ones I dig because I'm still learning it but so far that's the conclusion I've come to.
What I get fooled by is the tabs that have been bent in half.
Mike

Those bent over tabs, even after three plus years with the F 75, still get me as well. I was doing some early morning digging today and dug a silver war nickel that bounced from 24 to an occasional 29-30. I was in tone 3h and getting a high tone that did sound good and also, a mid tone. Because I was seeing the occasional 29-30 and a tone I liked, I decided to dig the target. As mentioned, it was a 43 war nickel at a depth of 5," but was almost totally on edge. Just like silver, there is something about a nickel that does sound just a bit different then a tab....but, certain tabs sound and read good as well. But, as has been mentioned, better safe then sorry. HH jim tn

I actually ran into this this morning. I dug several beaver tails that are right close to the nickel range. BUT I could tell when I had a true nickel. The reading was 29-30 locked. I dug a 1939 and a no date Jefferson..I have them in the tumbler right now. Should be ready late tonight. Then I might get a better date. But can slaw, beaver tails, and can tops are so close to the targets I like to dig. Heck if it is a solid target,,,9 times out of 10 I will dig it. Can Slaw, beaver tails, tabs...They gotta be cleaned out anyway. They get dug up.
