F75 has great potential....

I bought an F75 about a month ago after reading these messages.

It is a very sensitive machine and after playing with it for a month I discovered that it changes with every location. Our ground in Pittsburgh runs between 65-70 and I was trying to use the Je mode to get maximum depth on a house from 1794, cause I know there have to be colonial coins on the property. (It has an acre behind it of nice grass and its never been searched.

I came a half dozen times and found lots of shallow coins but nothing deep. And the machine was so noisy and chirpy that I had a hard time trying to discern deep items.

Then one afternoon I switched from Je to De and backed the sensitivity down so it was silent. I then increased it until it chattered a little and then ground balanced it. Well, that must have been the trick as the ground came alive! I started having deep hits every couple feet and have started pulling coins and tokens and buttons in the 8-10 inch range.

I know I have alot to learn and the colonial coins will come, but patience and reading this forum paid off! Don't give up on this machine its great!:beers:

I feel like I'm just beginning to understand the capabilities of this detector. It's very adaptable and powerful!

Your right.....the particular site definately dictates F75 settings. The settings the unit saved from your last hunt probably will not be ideal for your next location. Lucky the F75 is very easy to tweek, with no programming, and easy to ground balance. The JE mode is really "hot".....& something new users should probably stay away from until they have 30+ hours under their belts.....
HH,
Bill
